Reslocking Horns with Negreanu

Kid Poker
Kid Poker
Negreanu and Chris Reslock are involved in a stud hand. Negreanu's hand reads {4-Hearts} {Q-Spades} {7-Spades} {K-Spades}; Reslock's hand reads {3-Spades} {5-Spades} {9-Clubs} {10-Hearts}.

Short-stacked for some time, Negreanu throws his remaining chips in, Reslock calls, and they turn over their cards.

Negreanu: {3-Clubs} {6-Clubs}
Reslock: {2-Clubs} {2-Diamonds}

Reslock is dealt the {Q-Clubs} on seventh street, which doesn't change anything. "Wow," chuckled Negreanu, "This is a huge draw."

"I like your chances," agreed Reslock, as Negreanu's final card was dealt.

Negreanu squeezed the card with considerable drama. "It's paint!" he warned, before admitting defeat with a laugh. "Are you kidding me?" he exasperated, tossing the {J-Hearts} in the air and heading for the rail, presumably to spend some quality time with his golf grip training toy in his suite.

Freidberg Fried

Also gone, in circumstances entirely missed by our reporter because Mike Matusow wanted to know the top five in the $10,000 mixed event and our reporter happily obliged, Mr. Jon Freidberg.

Running Commentary

It's not often two poker commentators clash swords in a WSOP event, but that's exactly what's happened here today, WSOP's own voice of poker Norman Chad and Live at the Bike commentator, whose name currently escapes me, seated together on Table 2.

Perhaps they'll analyze each others play, discuss the current statistics, or, and possibly more likely, Chad will crack a joke about one of his many ex-wives.

We'll keep you posted!

Fergus-Out

Also busted is Mr. Chris "Jesus" Ferguson. Circumstances unknown, but his Matrix-style leather coat was observed fluttering off in the direction of away. Our field reporter: "He was just walking on the carpet, though, not on water or anything."

Alexander the Not So Great

After an opening few hours of witnessing the betting action reach the final streets, the blinds are such that we are beginning to see more preflop showdowns, the latest example involving Marco Johnson and last year's main event finalist Alexander Kravchenko.

All in preflop in Omaha-8, Kravchenko's top pair and seven low with A-K-3-7 on a K-6-3-2-J board isn't enough to beat Johnson's holding of A-K-6-5, two pair and a low to the six enough to scoop.

Just Joshing

Josh Arieh has busted out.

Seeing a three-way pot to the turn of the {9-Spades} {J-Spades} {5-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} board, Michael Mizrachi bet out, and another opponent raised. Arieh made a brave all-in call, and Mizrachi called too. Mizrachi and the unknown opponent both checked the {5-Clubs} river, and tied with a straight, both of them holding {10-?} {8-?}. Arieh just mucked and headed for the consolation of the rail.

Chiu Chiu Train Full Steam Ahead

David Chui is rocking and rolling now with 9,000, his most recent of encounters being with Melissa Hayden, the latter calling Chiu down all the way.

Chui had {5-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} and showed an ace for two pair, which was enough to fend off Hayden who chucked in her {5-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{10-Spades}{6-Diamonds} plus hole cards into the middle.

Hayden back down to her starting stack.

Split Pot for Keiner

In a spot of seven-card stud-8, German veteran Michael Keiner ({Q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{8-Spades}{J-Hearts}) check-calls a 600 bet on the final street from his neighboring opponent ({2-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{9-Spades}). Keiner shows {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} in the hole for a set of tens, whilst his opponent splits the pot by taking the low with {6-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{8-Hearts}.

Keiner remains on 6,150.

Corkins a Corker

It looks like our current chip leader is Hoyt Corkins, on 16,800. Riding just in his wake are Marco Johnson, Craig "MrCasino" Gray, Hasan Habib, Omaha Ed Tonnellier and Steve Jelinek.
