1 Down 178 To Go

On the very first hand of the day John Magaan got all his chips in the pot. He was short-stacked to start the day and was in the big blind. His {J-Hearts}{7-Clubs} was up against Alex Moore's {A-Spades}{10-Clubs}. The flop didn't help Magaan when it came {A-Clubs}{10-Spades}{3-Hearts}, followed by the {8-Hearts}. At this point Magaan was dead to a nine and the {K-Spades} hit the river.

Golser Starts Well

Markus Gosler got off to a good start when his {8-Spades}{8-Clubs} held up against Gary Marcum's {A-Diamonds}{J-Spades}. Gosler bet every street on a board that read {Q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{7-Spades}. He tabled his eights and stacked the chips, bringing his stack to 21,000.

Action to the River

John Blanton makes a raise from early position and only finds a caller in the shape of Jimmy Shultz in the big blind. Jimmy flops two pair with his {Q-?} {J-?} , enough for him to check raise John. John calls this bet as well as bets on the turn and river. He's forced to muck though when he sees the two pair. Jimmy adds a nice 8,200 to settle any early nerves.

Play Pauses For the Ponies

Play slowed down for a few minutes while Big Brown made his attempt to win the Triple Crown and be the first horse in 30 years to do so. His attempt was foiled by Da' Tara who lead wire to wire. The Tournament public address system relayed the bad news to the Amazon room.

Luske Lays it Down

Marcel Luske leads out for a 1,200 bet of the river with the board showing {Q-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} {7-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} but lays it down to a raise from Kevin Marcotte. Roy Thung was also involved in the hand but bailed after action on the flop. Marcel's stack sits at around 18,000 now while Kevin's up to 34,000. Roy only lost a little and sits on 30,000.

Tony Licastro Checks Out

Tony Licastro, looking down at a short stack, decided to make his move pre-flop by raising from the cut off. The small blind made it three bets and the we saw the flop come {Q-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{3-Spades}. At this point Licastro led out and got all his chips in the pot and was up against Bradford Albrinck's {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}. Licastro never caught up and with the {A-Spades} on the turn and the {7-Diamonds} on river Licastro, tossed his hand and left the tournament.

Fireworks on the Flop

We join the table with the flop showing {2-Spades} {A-Hearts} {6-Hearts}. Dean Oshiro is first to act from mid position and checks it as does Greg Monaldi before Marco Traniello bets. Dean raises this up and sees Marco raise again after Greg calls. Dean then raises this bet, Greg calls this once more before Marco caps it. Both players call before the turn is dealt as {Q-Spades} . Dean checks before Greg, who's found his betting shoes, finds his bet called by both players. The river comes {5-Clubs} prompting all players to check. Marco's {A-Spades} {K-Clubs} is good enough for the pot propelling him up to 38,000 in chips.
