Table Talk

Ted Forrest and Barry Greenstein are talking it up on the table regarding the weight-loss prop bet with Mike Matusow which Forrest ended up losing.

Greg Raymer chips into the conversation and asks Forrest to take a guess at Raymer's current weight since it has never been published. Forrest and Lisandro excitedly try to work out some terms for a prop bet on guessing Raymer's weight, but eventually the negotiations fell through.

The Duke of Poker Has Arrived

The Duke of Poker
The Duke of Poker
Annie Duke has just arrived at todays event. She arrives complete with a set of ultimate bet hats for the people at her table. It doesn't appear anyone has accepted her generosity.

Also, it appears that they tried to start the table 9 handed. Of course, that isn't proper in a stud game so the 9th player was put on another table.

More Raymer Prop Bet Talk

Further to the discussions of Greg Raymer's weight, it looks like a bet may have been agreed to between Forrest, Greenstein and/or Lisandro. Raymer said he won't take his clothes off except for his hat and shoes, which Forrest replies "Yeah that's fine, we don't need to see you naked!".

Raymer has also requested that unless they take his word on the weight, he'll require a fee to stand on the scales!

Who's the Best According to "The Greek"?

A conversation occurred over on table 11 between Ming Ly and David Gray about who the most famous Asian-American person is. When they mentioned Yao Ming of the Houston Rockets, Archie "The Greek" Karas looked over to Gray and Ly and said, "Who?"

They then proceeded to ask "The Greek" who the best was between Yao Ming, Johnny Chan, and Jackie Chan. Without hesitating Karas said, "Johnny Chan is the best."

Large Crowd on the Rail

The large number of pros in the field has certainly attracted the attention of the fans on the rail. Our tables are huddled in a corner of the orange quadrant of the Amazon Room but the fans have soon found their favorite players and are three or four deep on the rail as they catch a glimpse of the action!

Things Seem to Be Changing

Seven-card stud has had a stigma as of late as being an "old person's game." In most stud tournaments you will find that the average age of the players playing to be somewhere around 50. In today's event, there seems to be a good mix of players of all ages.

You still have your old school stud pro's such as Cyndy Violette, Mickey Appleman and Bill Munley, but in addition there seems to many more younger players in the field. This may be due to the fact that HORSE has become more and more popular amongst players. Another factor maybe be the small field size. The small field size is attractive to the pros looking to either get their first bracelet or to increase their bracelet total.

How Are You Baby?

Scotty Nguyen is currently making the rounds of the room catching up with plenty of old buddies playing this event. All that can be heard is a lot of "What's up baby?" and "How are you baby?"

How's Marco Doing?

Marriage is a wonderful thing. You take care of each other when you're sick. You support each other during the good times. You....check their chip counts?

Jennifer Harman-Traniello just stopped by the PokerNews desk to check on her husband's chip count. First we looked for his chip count in this event until she mentioned that he is in the $1,500 Limit Holdem event. She said, "There's only like seven tournaments going on at one time" as she gave us a grin.
