Chad Brown holds down the fourth spot entering Day 2 action
Chad Brown holds down the fourth spot entering Day 2 action
Join us here at PokerNews for the 3pm restart in Event 14 $10,000 World Championship Seven-Card Stud. Alexander Kostritsyn finished Day 1 at the top of the 80-survivor pack, but several of poker's biggest names are close behind as the antes begin to play an increasing role. Here's how the top ten stacks up:

Alexander Kostritsyn 121,100
Barry Mullinax 103,300
Michael Fiorito 101,900
Chad Brown 89,100
Daniel Negreanu 79,700
Ralph Perry 76,100
Cyndi Violette 70,300
Vassilios Lazarou 69,400
Thomas Weideman 62,100
Eric Brooks 62,100

Dozens more of poker's most prominent players remain in the hunt as well. It should be a busy day for the glitterati of poker on Sunday on the Amazon Room floor.

Saddle Up Your Horses!

Cards are in the air and players are beginning day 2 of this $10,000 Stud World Championship. We will play down to the final table. Stay tuned for all the exciting action.

Floor!

It took exactly 45 seconds for the floor to be called in today's event. The staff here had put up the wrong level on the clock and the players on table 1 made sure they knew it. I wonder if they have noticed that the clock has stopped.

The Clock Has Restarted

It took 45 seconds to inform the floor about the wrong level, but for almost five minutes not a single player informed the floor of the stopped clock. One of the other staff members caught the oversight and now the clock has been restarted.

Tables of Death!

The table redraw for Day 2 has created plenty of tough tables once again. As we roam the tournament floor we spotted the following tables of death!

Table 1: Minh Ly, Hoyt Corkins, Chris Reslock, Chad Brown, Daniel Negreanu

Table 2: David Williams, Alex Kravchenko, Shannon Elizabeth

Table 3: Doyle Brunson, Robert Mizrachi, Greg Raymer, Erik Seidel

Table 4: Mickey Appleman, Cyndy Violette, Rolf Slotboom, Alexander Kostritsyn

Table 8: Scott Fischman, Scotty Nguyen, David Oppenheim, Tony Guoga, Steve Zolotow

Table 9: Men Nguyen, Katja Thater, David Levi, Dario Minieri, Phil Ivey

WOW!

We Will Have a New World Champion of Stud

Chris Reslock, the 2007 Seven-Card Stud World Champion, has been eliminated from today's event.

With a board of {A-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {K-Hearts} {2-Hearts} , Reslock called a bet from Eric Buchanan, who was showing a board of {8-Clubs} {6-Spades} {6-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} . Reslock showed ({K-Spades} {J-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} ) for a pair of kings. Buchanan showed ({4-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {6-Diamonds}) for a set of sixes. Reslock got up and went around paying off his last-longer bets, then headed for the door.
