Phan Takes Out Another

John Phan continues to be a one-man wrecking crew. His latest victim was the short-stacked Carlos Mortensen. All the chips went in preflop, with Mortensen's A-10 in bad shape against Phan's A-K. An ace hit the board but it wasn't enough to save Mortensen's day.

Phan currently has approximately 56,000.

Gabe Costner On a Heater

In just a few big hands, Gabe Costner has more than doubled up. After showing down a pair of threes against his opponents missed flush draw and winning another big pot when a bet on the flop, Costner ran his 25,000 stack into just one that is now over 51,000 strong.

Sebok Signs Off

Michael Binger raised to 1,500 from early position. The recently crippled Joe Sebok reraised for his last 2,500 and was called by the big blind and Binger. Three players saw a flop of {8-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{9-Spades}.

The big blind led out into a dry side pot for 4,000. Binger remarked, "I guess you have it. I have sevens," and pitched his cards into the muck. Before the big blind could even open his hand, Sebok dejectedly said, "You got me." He opened {A-Spades}{2-Diamonds}. The big blind did indeed have him, showing {J-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} for top pair. There was no help on the turn or river for Sebok. He is out.

Rolf Slotboom Eliminated

Rolf Slotboom Eliminated
Rolf Slotboom Eliminated
After one limper from under the gun, Rolf Slotboom raised to 1,725 from middle position. Kenny Tran put in a reraise from late position making it 3,500 to play. The blinds passed, as did the limper, and Slotboom pushed for his whole stack of 7,300. Tran made the call and the players showed:

Tran: {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}
Slotboom: {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}

Tran trailed in the hand, but not for long. The flop came {J-Clubs}{7-Spades}{6-Hearts} and Slotboom shook his head quietly. The turn and river were blanks, coming the {3-Spades} and {2-Hearts} respectively, and just like that, Slotboom's day was done.

Vos Does in Another

A short-stacked player pushed his final 3,800 into the pot preflop, but found trouble when Mark Vos called with {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}. The all-in player had Q-10 offsuit, and the board failed to help him dig out of the hole. It wasn't an enormous pot, but another player is gone, and Mark Vos has chipped up to 38,000.

And in This Corner...

Blue #6 continues to be an interesting table, with Mark Vos, David Bach, Liz Lieu, and Isabelle Mercier all seated together. Mercier was absent for the first 40 minutes of Level 7 but has just returned. She seems more focused than she appeared prior to dinner, although clearly still not herself.

Just as Mercier returned, Vos raised from the cutoff to 1,800. Lieu reraised from the small blind for all of her chips - 7,800. Vos asked for a count, scrunched up his face and then reluctantly folded.

"Why couldn't it have been less?" he sighed.

Sebok is Sick

Joe Sebok raised the pot under-the-gun, making it 1,200 to go. The lone call came from the player in the big blind, and the two were heads-up to the flop.

The first three cards off the deck were {A-Spades}{8-Clubs}{6-Hearts}, the big blind checked, and Sebok continued out with another 1,200-chip bet. Sebok got shoved though, as the big blind check-raised him all in, having Sebok covered by just 600. Sebok made the call, and the hands were turned over, Sebok's {A-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} against his opponent's {A-Hearts}{J-Spades}. The turn and river failed to save Sebok, and he is crippled down to 600.

Traniello Lets One Go

Marco Traniello raised preflop from middle position to 1,600. When his opponent reraised him to 4,900, he folded. Despite this minor setback, Traniello has made impressive strides on his stack size since play resumed. He currently has approximately 15,000.

Another One for Ferguson

Chris Ferguson
Chris Ferguson
For the second time since the dinner break, Chris Ferguson got involved in a big pot before the flop, this time holding {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}. His all-in opponent tabled {K-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, and Ferguson was in good shape to drag in another sizable amount of chips early in tonight's play.

The dealer dealt out {Q-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}, and another player has been eliminated. Ferguson, meanwhile, is up to 40,000.
