To Add-On or Not To Add-On, That is the Question

With a couple of minutes to go in the rebuy period, players are debating with one another about the strategic viability of purchasing the add-on.

When the level ends, players will have the opportunity to add on either 3,000 (for $1,500) or 6,000 (for $3,000), regardless of the size of their stacks.

A Divided Mind

If at first you don't succeed...
If at first you don't succeed...
Thomas Wahlroos had it all in with A-A-x-x versus a player holding J-J-x-x with two diamonds. When his opponent rivered a flush, Wahlroos exclaimed "Oh my ****ing God, this is sick. I HATE this game!"

"Oh, I'm rebuying by the way," he added.

Omadraw

Jamie Gold and Jared Hamby just got it all in on a board of {9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Spades}{J-Clubs}.

Gold had {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{8-Spades} -- a made straight plus a redraw to a flush. Meanwhile, Hamby had {10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} -- also a made straight, plus outs to improve to a full house.

The river was the {6-Diamonds}, and the pair chopped the pot. Thus ensued a debate at the table over who had the edge with one card to come. (Gold did.)

Turn Straight Up

The turn was out and looking like {3-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {8-Hearts}. Bill Gazes bet and an opponent called all in.

Gazes was drawing dead with {A-Hearts} {A-Spades} {5-Diamonds} {K-Spades} against his opponent's {7-Diamonds} {7-Spades} {10-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} fpr the straight.

The river came {J-Spades} and Gazes down to 5,400.

Top Pair Good Enough for Seidel

Erik Seidel got all of his chips in on a flop of {K-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}, and was called by one opponent. Seidel showed {A-Spades}{K-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} for a pair of kings, and his opponent {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} for queens. The turn and river didn't change things, and Seidel is up to 14,000.

Some Have Had Enough

Paul Magriel flopped a set of aces, but his opponent turned a flush, and Magriel is out.

Others who've busted and chosen not to rebuy include Michael Mizrachi and Dan Shak. Still 20 minutes left in the rebuy period.

Terrence, Not Johnny

Four players saw a flop of {Q-Spades}{A-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}. Eric Froehlich in the small blind checked, Johnny Chan bet 6,000, and Terrence Chan raised all in for 8,800 total. A late position player and Froehlich got out of the way, and Johnny Chan called with his remaining chips.

Johnny {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{4-Clubs}
Terrence {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}

The turn was the {J-Diamonds}, giving Terrence the straight. The river was the {10-Hearts}, and Terrence's hand held up.

Johnny rebought. Meanwhile, Terrence is up to 22,700.
