Chiu Falls

Another pro has been eliminated from today's field. David Chiu was short stacked early, finally getting all in with a pair of aces. That pair of aces never improved and lost to the two pair, queens and eights, of his opponent.

Markus Golser Doubles Up

Markus Golser doubled up with a spade flush as he held {Q-Spades} {6-Spades} {4-Spades} {J-Spades} and squeezing the {5-Spades} on 7th street against his opponent's pair of kings. Golser is sitting with 1,000 after his win, but is well below the starting stack of 3,000.

Razor Can't Cut It

It was a tough day for John "the Razor" Phan. He got all of his chips in on sixth street, showing x-x / {5-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} {9-Spades} against two opponents, one of whom showed a board of x-x / {K-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} and the other a board of x-x / {7-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {5-Spades} {3-Clubs}. Phan, who said he had a straight draw, missed almost everything and finished with a pair of nines. Although that beat the ace-high of one of his opponents, it didn't beat the pair of kings of his other opponent. He is eliminated from the tournament and hits the rail.

Prize Pool Announced

With the closure of late registration, final numbers have been announced for this tournament. 382 players ponied up $1,500 each to create a total prize pool of over $500,000. Five tables (40 players) will make the money, with 40th place paying $2,346 and 1st place paying $136,111.

The Champ is Here, The Champ is Here

Michael Keiner, winner of the 2007 World Series of Poker $1,500 Seven Card Stud Event is in the field tonight. The German pro took home $146,987 last year along with his bracelet. This year the 1st place will make $10,876 less, as the field is slightly smaller than the one Keiner bested a year ago.

Jett Takes a Hit

Chip Jett bet his hand the whole way from third street to the river against three opponents, but it never got better than a pair of queens for Jett. He was called to the river by two of his three opponents, one of whom turned over three kings.
