Aces vs. Kings vs. Queens

Danny Wong raised to 800 from early position, and Isaac Haxton called from the hijack. Stephen Wolff reraised to 4,000 from the cutoff. Adam Westell then bumped it up to 12,000.

We weren't finished. Wong then pushed all in to 21,700. Haxton folded. Wolff reraised all in to 32,400, and Westell made the call. There were three good reasons for all the preflop action:

Westell: {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}.
Wong: {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}.
Wolff: {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}.

The board ran out {J-Spades}{6-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}, and Wong tripled up to 73,000. Wolff's kings gave him the side pot, and he is now at 21,400. Westell hit the rail.

Patrik Antonius versus Jimmy Fricke

Patrik Antonius
Patrik Antonius
And thousands of poker forum posters faint simultaneously.

Just before we switched back to limit, Patrik Antonius raises to 2,600 in the cutoff and Jimmy "gobboboy" Fricke calls in the big blind. The flop is {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{10-Spades}. Fricke checks. Antonius bets 4,000 and Fricke calls. The turn is {5-Spades}. Fricke checks. Antonius bets 10,500 and Fricke calls. The river is {2-Diamonds}. Fricke checks. Antonius bets 21,000 and Fricke calls. Antonius shows {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} and Fricke mucks. Antonius has 98,000 and Fricke is down to 29,000.

River Reprieve for Adler

Roland de Wolfe and Al Adler just got it all in before the flop, with de Wolfe having Adler well covered. Adler showed J-J, while de Wolfe tabled A-A.

The flop was {9-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}. The turn brought the {4-Spades}. Looking bleak for Adler . . . .

Then came the river, the {J-Diamonds}, and Adler survived to continue the fight. Adler is up to 25,500, and de Wolfe now has 63,000.

DeWitt Charging Ahead

Jason DeWitt raised to 3,000 from UTG, John Hoppmann called from middle position, and everyone else folded. The flop came {6-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} and DeWitt checked. Hoppmann bet 4,000, and DeWitt bumped it up to 10,000. Hoppmann called.

The turn brought the {J-Hearts}. DeWitt bet 4,000, and Hoppmann called.

Neither player cared for the {10-Spades} on the river, and both checked. DeWitt showed {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} for trips, and Hoppmann mucked. DeWitt now has 105,000, and Hoppmann is down to 14,000.

Corkins Fights Griffin, Gets Clawed

Hoyt Corkins is all in with 9-9 versus Gavin Griffin's K-Q. After Griffin calls, Phil Laak says, "I folded 8-8. Gavin saved me." The 9-9 holds up and Corkins is up to 34,000 versus the 46,000 of Griffin.

On the next hand, the board is {Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and they show down again with a lot of chips in the pot. Griffin has {Q-Spades}{J-Spades} and Corkins has 7-7. The boat over boat situation knocks Corkins down to his last 1,500. Griffin moves back up to 97,800.

"You win one race, you lose one race," says Corkins.

Corkins goes out a short time later with K-Q versus Griffin's A-A on a board of 4-6-10-10-2.
