Pump It Up

Once in a Lifetime by The Talking Heads is blaring out of the PA system in the Amazon Room, which must mean it's time to open the doors and let the players take their seats. We'll be in the Blue section of the Amazon Room today, and judging by the fact that only 30 six-handed tables are in use, a large field is not expected.

Sunday Triple Draw Lowball at the Rio

Deuce-to-seven triple-draw lowball returns to the Rio on Sunday when Event 40, $2,500 Triple Draw Lowball, begins play at noon. It's the "Kansas City" version of the game where the worst hand wins, and in this game the worst of the worst -- a hand otherwise known as "Number One" -- is 2-3-4-5-7. Aces count as high and straights and flushes are bad news.

This $2,500 event replaces last year's unusual $1,000-with-rebuys tourney in this poker variant, which drew 546 entrants and saw Rafi Amit win the bracelet and $227,005.
