George Lind Eliminated in 23rd Place ($5.274)

A four-way pot developed just before the break involving Steve Sung, Greg Raymer, George Lind, and John Phan.

When the dust settled, Phan emerged with a 7-6-5-4-2, beating out Sung's 8-6-4-3-2. Raymer mucked, saying he was drawing to a wheel, and Lind mucked as well, having been eliminated in 23rd.

Phan is now back up to 28,000, Raymer is down to 10,900, and Sung has 43,500.

Sklansky Survives (Again)

David Sklansky refuses to go home. This time Richard Chase attempted to take him out. Chase raised before the first draw, and Sklansky made the call. Both players drew two cards. Sklansky check-called Chase's next bet, and each player drew one card. Again Sklansky checked, and when Chase bet, Sklansky raised all in for his last 6,400. Chase made the call. Sklansky was pat with a nine-seven. Chase drew one, but couldn't beat that hand.

Sklansky now has about 23,000 chips.

Alfons Kela Eliminated in 22nd Place ($5,274)

A frustrating day of second-best hands has come to an end for Alfons Kela. He raised before the first draw, only to see Richard Chase reraise behind him. Kela made the call and drew two to Chase's one. After the first draw, Kela check-called Chase's bet. Both players drew one on the second draw. Again Kela checked, and after Chase bet, Kela called all in for his remainder.

Kela drew one card on the final draw; Chase was pat. Kela made a hand, 8-7-6-5-3, but once again it was just barely second-best to Chase's 8-7-5-4-3. Kela is out, but is $5,274 richer.

Von Altizer, Last Woman Remaining, Eliminated in 21st Place ($5,274)

"I can't win a hand!" Von Altizer complained, just before her final hand. "I've had the best draw four times but it never gets there. Yesterday I made seven wheels, today not one. I keep making straights - even gutterballs!"

Altizer's nightmare of missed draws has come to an end. She got the last of her chips in with a raise from the button that was called by Ray Davis. Again, Altizer had the best draw, holding 8-6-5-2 and drawing one card on each draw. Davis drew two cards on the first draw, then stood pat thereafter with a 10-7-6-4-3. Altizer missed once, missed twice, and on the final draw, pulled a six to pair sixes and miss a third time.

She earns $5,274 for her play over the last two days.

Baker Able

David Baker limped from the button, Richard Chase raised from the small blind, and Baker called. Chase took two and Baker three. Chase bet, and Baker called. On the second draw, both players took two cards. Again, Chase bet, and Baker called.

Both players stood pat on the last draw, and both checked. Baker showed 9-6-5-4-2, and Chase mucked. Baker is at 76,000, while Chase has slipped to 41,000.

Raymer Gets Some Breathing Room

Greg Raymer remains in today's tournament thanks to a good pull on the third draw. From the button, Raymer open-raised the pot. Ralph Perry three-balled him from the small blind. Raymer made the call.

On the first draw, Perry stood pat to Raymer's one card, then bet. Raymer called. The second draw came the same as the first: Perry was pat, Raymer took one and called after Perry bet.

On the third draw, both players stood pat. Sensing he was in trouble, Perry checked the action to Raymer, who bet. Perry called and saw the bad news: Raymer made an 8-6-5-3-2 to win the pot.

"I really needed that one," said Raymer with a sigh of relief. If he had lost the pot, he would have had less than 10,000 chips left. Instead, he currently has about 50,000.

Mizrachi Moving

Robert Mizrachi raised, Gioi Luong three-bet, Billy Baxter called from the big blind, and Mizrachi also called. Baxter and Mizrachi drew two cards, and Luong one card. Luong bet, and both called.

All took one card on the second draw, and all three checked. All again took one card on the last draw. This time Mizrachi bet, Luong folded, and Baxter called. Mizrachi showed a 9-8-5-4-2, and Baxter mucked.

Just after that hand, Michael Mizrachi stopped by the Brasilia to check on his brother's stack and to offer encouragement.

Mizrachi is sitting at 86,500, Baxter has 77,000, and Luong has 68,000.

Sung Sings Song of Victory

Ralph Perry's chip stack is headed in the wrong direction, this time courtesy of Steve Sung. Perry raised before the draw; Sung, with position, reraised. Perry made the call and drew two to Sung's one. Perry checked, then called when Sung fired out a bet.

The second draw, and the action afterwards, came off exactly the same as the first.

On the third draw, each player drew one card. Perry bet and was quickly called by Sung.

"Eight seven," said Perry.

"Eight six," replied Sung, opening 8-6-5-4-3. Perry shook his head and mucked.

After the hand, Perry's stack dipped dangerously to 26,000, while Sung soared to 86,000.
