Micon Gives Some Back

Bryan Micon has started the day on a tear, quickly doubling his stack inside of ninety minutes. He's not immune to losing a hand, however. On fifth street, Micon was involved in a three-way pot with Carol Kline and another opponent. The boards were:

Micon: x-x / {A-Hearts} {9-Clubs} {8-Hearts}
Kline: x-x / {3-Clubs} {2-Spades} {5-Diamonds}
Opponent: x-x / {9-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {8-Spades}

Action checked to Kline, who bet. Both other players called. On sixth street, Kline caught the {3-Hearts} for an open pair of threes; Micon caught the {10-Diamonds} and the third player caught the {A-Diamonds}. Kline led the betting; both opponents called.

Kline and Micon both checked the river to the third player, who bet. Kline called; Micon folded. Kline scooped the whole pot by revealing {A-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} in the hole for a high hand of two pair, eights and threes, and a low hand of 8-5. Her opponent mucked.

After the hand, Micon slipped below 6,000 chips, while Kline climbed to about 3,500.

Sklansky Busts Levi

David Sklansky: (x-x){4-Clubs}
David Levi: (x-x){8-Spades}

On third street, Sklansky brings it in and Levi calls.

Fourth:
Sklansky {A-Spades}
Levi: {5-Clubs}

Sklansky bets and Levi calls.

Fifth:
Sklansky: {J-Hearts}
Levi: {2-Diamonds}

Sklansky checks and Levi bets. Sklansky calls.

Sixth:
Sklansky {7-Diamonds}
Levi: {7-Hearts}

Sklansky bets and Levi calls all in.

Sklansky: ({5-Spades}{2-Spades}){4-Clubs}{A-Spades}{J-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}
Levi: ({3-Spades}-x){8-Spades}{5-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}-x

Levi shows an eight low and Sklansky has a seven low and a pair of sevens for the high, so he scoops and Levi is eliminated.

"The Razor" Not Sharper Than Traniello

Marco Traniello took a slash at John "The Razor" Phan. We caught up with the action on fifth street. Showing x-x / {4-Clubs} {10-Spades} {2-Clubs}, Traniello called Phan's bet. Phan's board showed x-x / {8-Hearts} {J-Spades} {8-Clubs}. On sixth street, Traniello caught the {10-Diamonds} for an open pair of tens and Phan caught the {4-Hearts}. Traniello checked to Phan (who bet), then raised when the action was back to him. Phan called, then called again after the river.

Traniello opened {A-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} in the hole for a six low and a pair of tens for high. Phan flashed {A-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} for an eight low and a pair of eights for high. Traniello scooped the whole pot.

Pappas Straightens Out

Greg Pappas
Greg Pappas
It's been a decent start for Greg Pappas today in the Brasilia Room. His well-disguised straight took the high half of a three-way pot. Pappas had {6-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} in the hole to go along with {5-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} {K-Spades} {8-Diamonds} to make a nine-high straight and a rough eight for the low. One of his opponents, however, made a smooth six to take the low half of the pot.

Jett's Draw Doesn't Come In

We caught up with Chip Jett just as he and his opponent were being dealt the river.

Jett: x-x / {8-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {9-Clubs} {10-Clubs} / x
Opponent: x-x / {Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} {4-Spades} / x

Both players checked it down. "Queens up," said Jett's opponent, showing {7-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {2-Hearts} in the hole. Jett nodded and mucked.

Jett's opponent smiled as the dealer pushed her the pot. "You're my favorite dealer," she said. "Can you stay the whole time?"
