Watkinson's Day Goes From Bad To Worse

Lee Watkinson fired out on the flop and moved all in on the turn when the board read {9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. His opponent made the call and tabled {5-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for trips against Watkinson's {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}. The {Q-Clubs} on the river gave his opponent the flush to leave Watkinson on life support with about 400 chips.

Things then got worse for Watkinson as the empty chair to his direct right was filled by none other than Full Tilt pro John Juanda.

Time to Go to Work

New PokerStars pro William Thorson just arrived to today's event. He is at the same table as Victor Ramdin. The two were talking about life and playing on the EPT. The dealer gave Thorson his chips and off to work he went.

The Mouth Likes Nuts

We caught the action on the turn on a board of {9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{6-Clubs} where the player in big blind had led out with a bet of 300 and Mike Matusow made the call from the cutoff.

The river fell the {4-Clubs} and the big blind checked before Matusow moved all in for 2,025, covering his opponent, who made the call. The big blind tabled {J-?}{9-?} for flopped top two pair, but Matusow showed {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for the flopped nut straight to double up and eliminate his opponent.

Matusow is now up to 6,500 chips.

To Tell the Truth

Those that may be new to live tournament poker may not know that it is against the rules to talk about your hand truthfully before showdown. For example, if you are on the turn and getting ready to bet or call a bet, you cannot tell a person what you actually have. If you were to tell a player that you have a king and then show a king either at showdown, or at any point, then you would receive a one-round penalty.

This rule was just explained to a table by our floor staff. After hearing the explanation, a player stated, "In poker, it's OK to lie, but it's not OK to tell the truth."

Welcome to poker.
