What Are These Guys Playing?

On one side of our table there is the televised final-table area that is currently housing the final table of the $1,000 No Limit with Rebuys event, while on the other side we have the cash game area. Unless you were sweating this event, you wouldn't know that we are playing for a world title. A lot of people walk by and give a puzzled look at this strange game where players get four cards. One thing is for certain: there is no place that these players would rather be right now.

Clements Crippled

Scott Clements made it two bets to go and received a call from Mark Wilds. On both the flop of {4-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} and the turn of {J-Spades}, Wilds checked called a bet from Clements. On the river of the {10-Spades}, Wilds bet out. Clements looked sick, but finally made the call after thinking for about a minute. Wilds showed {A-Clubs} {Q-Spades} {K-Spades} {Q-Hearts} for the nut straight. Clements tapped his cards and mucked his hand.

After the hand Clements is down to about 30,000 in chips.

Clements Takes Another Hit

Scott Clements got to the showdown in another pot and once again missed out of his slice of the pie. He tangled with Mark Wilds, and again he was forced to simply muck his holding.

Clements looked over at his entourage and gave them a "slow down" motion as he currently seems to be leaking chips and looks to take a deep breath and recover his footing in this final table.

A Huge Pot

Scott Clements was on the button. George Guzman in the cutoff seat made it two bets to go and was called by Scott Clements, Thang Luu, Mark Wilds, Craig Sabel, and Spencer Lawrence.

The flop: {9-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {7-Spades}

Sabel bet out, Lawrence folded and then it was called around to Guzman who raised. Scott Clements then three-bet. Luu folded and Sabel called before Wilds made it four bets to go. Guzman proceeded to cap the betting at five bets, and Clements, Wilds, and Sabel all called.

The turn of the {6-Hearts} was checked around.

River: {5-Hearts}

Sabel put the last of his chips in and was called by Wilds. Guzman then made it two bets and was called by Clements and Wilds.

Showdown:

Guzman: {A-Hearts} {2-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {9-Spades}
Sabel: {A-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {9-Hearts}
Clements: {A-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {4-Clubs}
Wilds: {A-Spades} {2-Hearts} {4-Spades} {5-Spades}

Wilds and Guzman split the low on the side. Guzman took the side pot high with a set of nines.

Sabel ended up winning the high on the main pot with a 9-high straight. The low was split three ways between Sabel, Wilds, and Guzman.

After the hand Sabel was up to 340,000 chips, Guzman had 180,000, Wilds 280,000, and Clements was down to 205,000.

James Pritchard Gets Busy

James Pritchard looked to be in trouble after he folded on the river against Greg Jamison on a board of {3-Hearts}{8-Spades}{10-Spades}{4-Hearts}{J-Clubs}. He was left with only 120,000 in chips and the short stack at the table.

However, the next hand, in a battle of the blinds against Thang Luu, he was able to reclaim a lot of chips after check-calling Luu the whole way on a board of {J-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{7-Hearts}. Pritchard showed {A-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} to scoop the pot as Luu mucked his hand.

On the button in the very next hand, Pritchard raised it preflop to take down the blinds and recover to close to 200,000 chips.

First Showdown

The early action has been pretty tight with small pots going to James Pritchard, Mark Wilds and Thang Luu. It appears that Luu is continuing with his aggressive approach from late last night, when he was able to amass most of his chips, while many of the other players are yet to get involved.

Scott Clements also looks keen to start moving some chips and has just chopped a healthy pot with Luu in the first hand that reached a showdown. Clements took down the high and Luu collected the low.

Final Table
Today's final table is located in the green section on table 15, just in front of the Milwaukee's Best No Limit Lounge. The table doesn't have all the glitz and glamour of the main final table, but our players don't care. They are playing for a world title. That's what it's all about.
