Friedman Caught

Perry Friedman
Perry Friedman
Perry Friedman was betting aggressively on a board of {8-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}, but when his opponent called him down he simply tapped the table and said "You got me."

His opponent showed {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{9-Clubs} for a straight to scoop the pot.

Kessler Wheels in Another Pot

Zach Brooks limped in from under the gun before Allen Kessler raised it up from middle position. The action passed around and Brooks made the call.

The two players saw a flop of {3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} and Brooks checked to Kessler, who made the continuation bet. Brooks then check-raised. Kessler called.

The turn landed the {4-Clubs} and Brooks bet again. Kessler this time made the raise and Brooks called.

The river was the {Q-Hearts} and Brooks checked to Kessler, who bet once more, and Brooks made the call.

Kessler tabled {A-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{A-Hearts}, making a wheel for the low and a six-high straight for the high to scoop a big pot. His stack grows to around 47,000 in chips.

Blinds Are Up

The blinds are up once again, this time we're at 600/1200. There are 108 players remaining in today's field as we start to approach the bubble and money stages of this tournament.

Strategy Shifts

At this stage of the tournament, typically you will see one of two types of strategies. The first is the aggressive strategy, where players will try to steal more often and take advantage of tight play. The other strategy is a tight strategy, where players will only play very solid hands.

Some players will just be happy to squeak into the money so that they can say that they have cashed at the World Series of Poker. Others will start to take more chances to build chips in order to make a run at the final table. Regardless of strategy used, it should prove to be a very interesting level now that we are approaching the money.

Gee...Thanks Dad

Jac Arama just informed us that his wife is pregnant with their seventh child. When the baby is born, he is planning to name his child Roc Arama. Congratulations to Arama and his wife on their future new addition.

Mizrachi Likes Chop Suey

Mmm...Chop Suey
Mmm...Chop Suey
Robert Mizrachi raised from the button and received three callers. On a flop of {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{3-Spades}, Harold Heckethorn bet, the player in the big blind folded, Franklin Calwell called, and Mizrachi made it two bets. Heckethorn and Caldwell both called the bet. The turn of the {5-Spades} was checked around. When the river fell of the {2-Spades} Heckethorn bet, Caldwell called and Mizrachi then made it two bets. Heckethorn and Caldwell both called.

Heckethorn showed {3-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} for a wheel. Mizrachi showed {A-Spades}{2-Spades}{8-Spades}{Q-Clubs} for the nut flush. Caldwell mucked.

After the hand Mizrachi is up to 39,000.
