Myung Makes a Great Call, But Loses

John Myung raised 8,000 from late position and was re-raised by Joe Brandenburg to 38,300. Myung thought for a while then called, showing {A-Hearts}{8-Clubs} to Brandenburg's {a-Spades}{7-Spades}.

"Great call," said Brandenburg to Myung.

But the board came {2-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{k-Spades} and Myung sent most of his stack over to Brandenburg.

Myung was eliminated a few hands later.

Pair vs. Pair

Matt Keikoan
Matt Keikoan
Second to act before the flop, Matt Keikoan raises to 10,000. Action is folded around to Brent Roberts in the cutoff, who moves all in with a covering raise. Keikoan makes an instant call, all in for 79,100 total. The cards are turned over:

Keikoan: {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs}
Roberts: {10-Spades} {10-Clubs}

The flop comes {8-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} , and the {9-Clubs} on the turn gives Roberts additional outs to the open-ended straight.

The river pairs the board though, {8-Clubs} , and Keikoan doubles up with his overpair to the board. He is now up to 172,000, while Roberts is crippled with just 21,000.

Big Win For Yan Chen

Yan Chen raised to 9,000 under the gun and was called by Kurosh Dejgosha. After the flop came {5-Clubs}{9-Spades}{8-Hearts} and Chen bet 15,000, Dejgosha raised all in to 35,000 and Chen called, showing {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}. Dejgosha had {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs} and the turn and river blanked out to give Chen the hand.

Chen, who cashed in this event in 2006, is up to 195,000.

Shorr the Steamroller

Shannon Shorr, who was down to 40,000 less than an hour ago, is accumulating chips quickly.

After a raise by Carter Gill and a call by Neil Scott in front of him, Shorr raised to 29,000 and got called by Scott.

Scott checked a flop of {5-Clubs}{3-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and Shorr went all in, putting Scott to a decision for the rest of his chips.

Scott folded and Shorr raked the pot, moving his stack to 208,000.

Dinner Break on Players Mind

With only minutes remaining until the dinner break, already players are talking up surviving until the dinner break.

With an hour-long break, all the players are looking for a well-earned rest as they will return to play down to the final table tonight.

With only around 50 players remaining, players will be looking at finishing before the day is over.

A River for Carter

From middle position, Tyler Hamade opened the pot with a raise to 11,000. Action folded around to Keith Carter in the big blind, who was the lone caller.

The flop ran {A-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {9-Clubs} . Carter checked and Hamade continued out for 21,000. Carter asked for his opponent's count, and then moved all in. Hamade quickly called, and we had a showdown:

Carter: {A-Spades} {3-Spades}
Hamade: {A-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}

The turn was the {K-Hearts} , giving Carter a some additional outs to chop.

Who needs a chop though? The river card brought the {3-Clubs} , making a winning two pair for Kevin Carter. He raked in a big pot and sent Hamade to the rail, shaking his head.

The Bell Rings

We have reached the end of level 14, and the black T100 chips are being raced off. The players are on a 60-minute dinner break, and we'll pick up the action when we return.
