Full Blown Kitchen Sink

FBT and all of his 'schtuff'
FBT and all of his 'schtuff'
Greg Mueller is in for the long haul. If he needs to stay at a table and play for 14 days straight he will. He's come prepared for it anyway as in a pile in front of him he has: a packet of Starburst, Skittles (sour & original), Twizzlers, Mentos, Gum, a watch, a set of keys, lollies, money in a clip, sunglasses, an MP3 player and of course a few all-important poker chips.

Liebert Takes One Down Before Dinner

In a four-way limped pot, Kathy Liebert check-raised to a total of 3,000 on a flop of {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} from the small blind and her opponent on the button made the call.

The turn was the {5-Hearts} and Liebert fired out 2,500 and her opponent folded as Liebert takes down a nice pot just before dinner to sit with 33,000 chips.

Nancy Todd Tyner - Eliminated
On a board of {Q-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {3-Spades} {K-Clubs}, Nancy Todd Tyner had all her chips in the middle against a larger-stacked opponent. The players showed:

Todd Tyner: {10-Clubs} {7-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Clubs} {2-Clubs}

Todd-Tyner was drawing to one out, the {9-Clubs} that never came. The river was the {3-Clubs} and Tyner was eliminated.

Playing Favorites

Michael Guzzardi just lost some chips to an all in opponent when her {J-Hearts}{J-Spades} held up against his {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}.

"Thank you," she said to the dealer. "You are now my favorite person in the entire world... next to my husband."

No word on where the dealer ranks in Guzzardi's list of faves. He's slipped to 34,000.

Phillip Hilm Sends a Player Home

We caught up to this hand on the flop. With the board reading {8-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds}, Phillip Hilm bet 1,100 from late position and got a call from his opponent in the cutoff seat.

The turn came the {8-Diamonds} and Hilm checked. The cutoff moved all in and Hilm made the call. The players showed:

Hilm: {K-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds}
Opponent: {Q-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}

Hilm had his opponent drawing dead and the {7-Spades} on the river was meaningless. After the hand, Hilm is up to about 54,000 chips.

Jabberjaw is Out

"He has kings?! Say it ain't so!"
"He has kings?! Say it ain't so!"
Humberto "The Shark" Brenes won't have to worry about asking his toy sharks for advice any longer. He got all of his chips in the middle with pocket queens and was called by a player with pocket kings. Nobody improved. Brenes is chum in the water.

Preston Chips Up

On a flop of {2-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {2-Clubs}, the small blind checked an early-position player bet out 1,000 and Terris Preston made the call. The player in the small blind then check-raised to 3,500, which prompted the middle position player to raise all in for 3,875 total. Terris Preston then moved over the top all-in for 13,500 total. The small blind folded.

Preston showed {K-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} and his opponent showed {Q-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}

Board: {2-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}

After the hand, Preston is up to 65,000 in chips.

Formica Flushed

The Italian Stallion makes a good read

With the board reading {Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {8-Clubs} Silvio "The Italian Stallion" Formica faced a 4,000 bet from his opponent on the river.

"The only way you're gonna win is if you have a third queen or backed into a flush. Here's my 4,000," he said as he dribbled four yellow chips into the pot, making the call.

The big blind turned over {J-Clubs} {10-Clubs}, indeed having backed into the flush.

"You were right," sighed Formica, showing {7-Spades} {7-Diamonds} as his opponent raked in the pot.

Here at PokerNews, we strive to bring you the most up-to-date, scientifically verified information in the poker world. During a recent lull in the action, we conducted an investigation to help answer one of the WSOP's most burning questions.

How many players are wearing sunglasses?

Based on a sample size of 40 tables, approximately 2.45 players per table have chosen to shield their eyes from the glare of the lights and the gazes of their opponents. That's about 315 players, or 27 percent of the field.

Again, these numbers are highly accurate and scientifically calculated.
