A Tale of Two Bluffs

It was the best of times (for Bertrand Grospellier), it was the worst of times (for Tiffany Michelle). Michelle tried to run a bluff on Grospellier by bettting 6,000 on the turn of a {J-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {7-Spades} {3-Diamonds} board, then betting 10,000 when the river fell {J-Hearts}. Grospellier called both bets with {5-Hearts} {3-Clubs}, which turned out to be the winning hand, jacks and threes.

A few hands later, Grospellier bluffed Dave Stann by betting 17,200 on the river with the board showing {5-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}. Stann didn't have much -- he flashed {A-?} {7-?} before mucking -- but it was more than Grospellier, who flashed {8-Spades} {6-Spades}. That brought some choice words from Stann, who intimated that Grospellier shouldn't keep playing that way if he values his tournament life.
