Ivey Dwindling

During Event 13 action
During Event 13 action
We have just realised that Phil Ivey is currently registered in today's tournament.

Still playing in Event 13 - $2,500 No Limit Hold'em however, Ivey sits with roughly 80,000 in chips and is one of the players still in action.

With a good chance at capturing his second bracelet for the series, and seventh overall, it is no surprise that he is letting his current 3,300-chips slide over this side of the Rio!

Lee Takes One From Sheikhan

Accumulating thanks to Sheikhan
Accumulating thanks to Sheikhan
Three players saw fifth street, but it would be Shawn Sheikhan that took the lead firing out 300 on both fifth and sixth street and was only called by Doug Lee.

Lee bet out on seventh with Sheikhan making the call with both player's boards reading as follows:

Lee: (X-X) / {5-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{K-Hearts}{4-Hearts} / (X)
Sheikhan: (X-X) / {10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{10-Spades}{8-Spades} / (X)

Lee tabled his {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}{4-Diamonds} which prompted a fold from Sheikhan. Lee's superior two-pair earned him the pot as he stacked up to 7,200, while Sheikhan slips to 2,200 in chips.

Juanda to Chip Lead

Since taking his seat, John Juanda has been accumulating chips and is now sitting with 15,150 in chips.

Most recently, Juanda was called by an opponent with Juanda's board reading as follows:

{5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} / {2-Hearts}{5-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} / {10-Clubs}

His opponent mucked and Juanda raked in the pot to send him to outright chip leader as we approach dinner break.

Pescatori Eliminated

After having his table broken, Shawn Sheikhan found some luck when he sent Max Pescatori to the rail on his first hand at the table.

Pescatori made three jacks, but it would be Sheikhan's full house, fives over twos, that would see him take the pot down and climb to 7,000 in chips.

Katja Thater Falls

Thator eliminated in three-player mash
Thator eliminated in three-player mash
Just in front of the blogging desk we quickly jumped up to find three players capping every street.

Katja Thater would be all in on fifth, as was Stacey Vong, with Mark Seif having them both covered.

The cards were tabled as follows:

Thater: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} / {10-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Vong: {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds} / {J-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}
Seif: {3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} / {3-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{7-Spades}

With Thater drawing dead she quickly packed up her bag to exit the tournament, while Seif squeezed out his card hoping to find the remaining three in the deck.

Unfortunately for Seif, he would only manage to find the {6-Spades} as Vong near tripled up to 12,500 as Seif slips to 3,100.
