Marty's No Chicken

Poker media stalwart Marty Derbyshire is down to 11,000 and loudly complaining on all sorts of bad beats, real or imagined. Most recently he doubled up a short-stacked player in that classic coinflip, {A-Spades} {K-Hearts} against the shorty's {Q-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}. No help at all on the {9-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {8-Spades} {3-Clubs} {J-Hearts} board and a big sigh from Derbyshire.

How Much Do They Get?

Wow, there is some serious money to be won here in the next three days. The total prize pool amounts to an extremely juicy $3,420,690 with first place paying a delicious $607,256. In fact six places will be paying out six figures, and 270 happy people will be leaving this tournament with more money in their pockets than they arrived with, barring accidents in the casino and so on.

Please check the Prizepool and Payouts page shortly for full info.

Frickin' Marvellous

Jimmie Fricke is up to 17,000 after calling another player's shove on a {6-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} flop. Fircke's opponent turned over {A-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} for bottom pair and a flush draw but failed to improve on the {K-Hearts} turn or {J-Spades} river, and Fricke's pocket {8-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} took the pot and sent his hapless adversary to the rail.

A Few More Counts

Wroblewski - Anna two cards will do
Wroblewski - Anna two cards will do
So terribly easy to typo, that. Nevertheless:

Erica Schoenberg: 14,000
Alex Jacob and his awesome hairdo: 5,075
Nik Persaud: 7,000 -- "I donked off half my stack."
Soren Kongsgaard: 8,000
Kara Scott: 10,000
Tom Franklin and his Captain Tom hat: 3,700
Anna Wroblewski: 27,000

Minh-Raise

A couple big stacks have emerged during the break.

One of them is well-known UK circuit player Sunny Chattha -- he neglected to let us know how it happened, but he's up to 35,000.

Also doing very well indeed is Minh Luu. She raised under the gun and got two callers to see an {A-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {8-Spades} flop and then a {9-Spades} turn; by the time the betting was done she found herself involved in a massive three-way all in between herself, a gent in late position and the big blind.

Luu: {9-Clubs} {9-Hearts}
Mr Late Position: {A-Spades} {J-Spades}
Mr Big Blind: {Q-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds}

River: {7-Clubs}

Luu had both players covered and they are long gone; she, meanwhile, is up to 30,000.

Elky Doing Well-ky

Elky - what a bleach
Elky - what a bleach
Just before the break, Elky's stack got a little boost when he bet and was called on the river of a {2-Spades} {A-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {8-Hearts} board. He turned over {Q-Hearts} {J-Hearts}, his opponent mucked, and he was up to 6,000.
