Day 2 Completed

Day Two Is All Wrapped Up!

Chip Leader Joe Simmons
Chip Leader Joe Simmons
The chips are being bagged and the players are exiting the Amazon room after another long day of tournament poker!

327 players took to the felt this afternoon with the aim of firstly sneaking into the money, and then having a crack at the coveted bracelet, title of champion and $639,331 first prize.

Ivan Demidov, Thor Hansen, Kelly Kim, Neil Channing and Liv Boeree would all sneak into the money but would fall short of making day three. Joe Simmons would snatch the chip lead early and hold onto it for the majority of the day before Rico Ramirez and Jason Potter took over.

However when it was all said and done Simmons wrestled the lead back to sit atop the final 27 with 1,100,000 in chips, with Jason Potter (929,000) and Rico Ramirez (789,000) serious threats. With Marco Johnson (275,000) and Mehdi Alaei (505,00) still in the field, the Event 28 bracelet is well and truly up for grabs!

With action kicking off from 1pm local time tomorrow, make sure to stay tuned to PokerNews for every rivered flush, turned straight and flopped set as we award another gold bracelet for the 2009 WSOP.

Marco Leaves Tahata With Almost Nada

From under the gun, Marco Johnson raised to 32,000. Lance Tahata pumped up the action even further with a reraise to 85,000 from the button. Johnson then moved all in for 152,000 total. Tahata made the call.

Johnson turned up two queens, {Q-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}, and was crushing Tahata's pocket eights, {8-Diamonds} {8-Spades}.

The board ran out {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {7-Spades} {J-Diamonds} to give Marco the double up and increase his stack to 345,000 chips. Tahata was left with 88,000.

Turn the Draw, River the Flush

Adam Lippert raised to 42,000 before Mikkel Madsen reraised to 95,000. Lippert made the call and the action was heads up to the flop.

The first three community cards on the felt were {A-Clubs} {K-Spades} {7-Diamonds}. Lippert was first to act and checked. Madsen moved all in for 231,000. Lippert made the call holding top pair, {A-Spades} {10-Clubs}. All Madsen turned up was a minescule pair of sevens with {7-Spades} {6-Spades}.

The turn brought the {8-Spades} to add some flush outs for Madsen. Then, the dealer burned one last time and then slapped the {3-Spades} on the river, completing Madsen's flush.

Lippert was knocked all the way down to 200,000 while Madsen's runner, runner flush put him at 675,000 chips.

Just Quads For Braz

Rico Ramirez opened the pot to 90,000, only to have Avi Braz push all in for his last 206,000 with Ramirez making the call.

Ramirez: {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}
Braz: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}

The board would fall {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{A-Spades}{A-Clubs} to give Braz an unnecessary, but always enjoyable, set of quads to double through to 430,000 as Ramirez slips to 880,000.
