Fun Night, Daniel?

Carrying a beer, Daniel Negreanu just came bounding into the Brasilia Room and finally took a seat behind his stack at Table 243, which had been blinded down to about 23,000. He proceeded to spill the beer all over himself, then bring in the action with the {2-Diamonds}.

"What are we playing, stud hi-lo? You go high and I go low?" laughed Negreanu.

"I am wasted. Hardcore," he continued, his eyes glassy and bloodshot.

Negreanu spent the earlier part of the night over at the NHL Awards, followed by dinner with WSOP commissioner Jeffrey Pollack, Pollack's brother Gary Bettman, the commissioner of the NHL, and the lovely Lacey Jones. Apparently, a good time was had by all!

Can't Get No Respect

Daniel Negreanu (X) (X) {4-Spades} {4-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {2-Spades} (X)
"Russian" (X) (X) {A-Spades} {K-Spades} {3-Clubs} {J-Clubs}(X)
Mike Matusow (X) (X) {K-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} (X)

Daniel Negreanu brought it in on third street.

"Come on, Russian!" he taunted as the action passed to Seat 4, who completed. Mike Matusow called and Negreanu called as well.

Negreanu paired on fourth street and led out, getting calls from both "Russian" and Matusow. He led again on fifth, "Russian" raised, Matusow called, and the action was back on Negreanu.

"When you drink, they don't give you any respect," he quipped before reraising. Both players called.

Negreanu led again on sixth street and both opponents called. He bet again on seventh, "Russian" raised, Matusow folded and Negreanu called.

Our "Russian" friend (who I don't think is actually Russian at all) showed {8-Spades} {7-Spades} {5-Spades} for a flush. Negreanu flashed the {4-Clubs} for trips as he mucked.

Negreanu is down to 14,600.

Paging Vidal Sassoon

We're not reporting this to be mean-spirited, we're reporting it because it's one of the funniest damn things we've ever seen at a poker tournament... especially a Stud 8 tournament, which could always use a shot in the arm when it comes to the fun quotient.

Daniel Negreanu, a fresh beer in hand, is now walking up to different people on the rail and playing with their hair.

Seriously.

He's fluffing it, inquiring about cuts and products, and pretty much has everyone in stitches. Mens' hair, womens' hair-- he's touching it. Caressing it. Loving it.

"Hey Daniel, can I have your autograph?" inquired one female fan.

"Sure! But can I play with your hair first?" replied Negreanu.

Scooping on Sixth, Splitting on Seventh

Tony G ({4-Spades})({5-Diamonds}){2-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {10-Hearts} ({2-Spades})
Opponent ({A-Clubs})({5-Hearts}){8-Spades} {3-Clubs} {9-Spades} {6-Spades} ({8-Diamonds})
Opponent 2 (X) (X) {2-Clubs} {9-Spades}

Tony G completed on third street and got two callers. He led out on fourth, his first opponent raised, the second folded and Tony G came back with a three-bet. The G continued to lead on fifth, sixth, and seventh streets and was called down the entire way.

The G was scooping all the way through sixth street with a 6-5-4-2-A low and ace-ten high, but his opponent rivered a pair of eights to split the pot, while Tony rivered a pair of deuces.

David Levi Eliminated by Erik Seidel

David Levi moved the rest of his chips, along with a spare stick of gum into the middle on third street and was called by Erik Seidel.

Seidel ended up making trip fours to Levy's threes and fives and sent him to the rail.

The stick of gum, still wrapped, is now sitting atop Seidel's chips, which presently total 32,000.
