Yan Li found himself all in preflop with two callers in the shape of Marc Naalden and Alex Keating. They both checked it all the way down to give a board until Naalden bet on the river; Keating folded.
Li tabled but Naalden opened for broadway, the pot and a 550,000. Li is our latest casualty.
A short stacked David Baker raised from UTG and was called by Marc Naalden in the BB before a flop came down. Naalden checked to see Baker move all in. Baker shrugged and called with and was surprised to be ahead as Baker opened .
The turn and river came to eliminate Baker and edge us nearer to a final table.
Short-stacked Tony Pirone and Ron Burke saw a flop, and Pirone got all but 2,000 or so of his chips in. Come the turn Burke seemed to forget what he was doing for a moment and someone pointed out to him that maybe he should bet to put Pirone all in. "Don't tell him what to do!" said Pirone, but obviously there was no question that his chips were going in.
Phil Hellmuth's war of words with Alex Keating has just spilled over in to a battle of the cards with one of them eliminated in the process.
Hellmuth raised from UTG and Keating three-bet from late position before the call was made to see a flop. Hellmuth bet, was raised before he reraised back and was called. The turn saw the rest of the chips go in and both players turn over monsters:
Hellmuth -- for a set.
Keating -- for top pair and nut flush draw.
It all came down to the river..... !!!
Boom for Keating as he takes the lot and eliminates his foe in the mean time and collects a 300,000 stack as well.
With the betting capped preflop, Mike Thorpe bet every street of the board (he actually bet all in in the dark on the river) -- and dreadfulness of all dreadfullnesses, his was by that point absolutely no good against Danny Qutami's . Ouch.
