Cowley Set-tled It

Steven Cowley, Mike Thorpe and Eric Rivkin all saw a {5-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {6-Spades} flop. Thorpe led out and both players called to see a {J-Diamonds} turn. Thorpe checked this time, Rivkin bet, Cowley raised, Thorpe folded and Rivkin called.

When the river came {K-Clubs} Rivkin check-called all in and mucked upon seeing Cowley's {J-Clubs} {J-Hearts} for a set.

Always the McBridesmaid, Never the McBride

Big Mac
Big Mac
Shawn McBride raised form the button and Steven Cowley called him from the big blind. Cowley check-called on the {3-Hearts} {7-Spades} {6-Clubs} flop but check-raised the {3-Diamonds} turn. Undeterred, McBride reraised, and called all in to a four-bet from Cowley.

McBride: {A-Diamonds} {7-Hearts}
Cowley: {3-Clubs} {10-Clubs}

River: {4-Hearts}

McBride is McBusto, in 22nd place.

Rivkin Short

Eric Rivkin is down to just 30,000 from his earlier chip-leading stack -- oops.

He raised in mid position and called a reraise from Ian Johns: they saw a {5-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {J-Diamonds} flop. Rivkin checked but then raised to a bet from Johns; Johns called and they moved on.

Johns check-called on the {4-Hearts} turn and {3-Clubs} river, and his pocket {9-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} were good -- Rivkin could only boast {A-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} for a busted flush draw.

Johns meanwhile is up to 250,000.

Hellmuth Hangs in There

A preflop three way all-in hand between Phil Hellmuth{A-Clubs} {K-Spades}, Henric Strath {5-Hearts} {5-Clubs} and Matt Lichtie{A-Spades} {6-Clubs} just went down.

The board ran out {J-Spades} {J-Clubs} {4-Spades} {4-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}.

Hellmuth rivering a king to more than double up, eliminating Lichtie and injuring Strath. Hellmuth on 45,000, Strath on 43,000.

Laberge La-Busto

Robert Laberge in the big blind called Steven Cowley's button raise, and proceeded to bet out on the {7-Hearts} {9-Spades} {2-Hearts} flop. Cowley raised and Laberge reraised; Cowley called and they saw a {J-Hearts} turn.

Laberge bet out again and once again Cowley raised. Laberge reraised for his last 6,000, and a call.

Cowley flipped {A-Hearts} {10-Hearts} for the flush, and Laberge couldn't beat it -- he is therefore out in 23rd place.

WTF?

A bit of an altercation had started between Phil Hellmuth and Alex Keating, and was not improved any when Alex Keating's pocket tens started good and stayed good against Hellmuth's {8-?} {10-?} on a {6-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {9-Spades} board, leaving Hellmuth on 20,000 at the end of the hand.

To be honest we have no idea what the dispute is about, but the phrase "heads up for rolls" was voiced by Keating at one point, and his bellows of, "I CAN'T TAKE ANY MORE OF THIS!" still periodically reverberate around the Amazon Room. Naturally a crowd has formed to enjoy the show. The floor was called over and banned the two from speaking to each other, but apparently Hellmuth kept talking anyway; Keating reasonably decided that if Hellmuth was allowed to talk then so was he. So yes, no idea what that's about. We'll keep our scandal radar turned to max...
