Pescatori Takes Care of Brunson

Todd Brunson's imposing presence has been removed from the Orange section of the Amazon Room, courtesy of Max Pescatori. Brunson opened from early position with a raise that was called by Pescatori and one other player. Brunson fired again on a flop of {A-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {2-Hearts}. Only Pescatori called.

When the turn fell {5-Hearts}, Brunson fired for the third time. This time Pescatori raised, enough to set Brunson all in. Brunson called and showed down {A-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {2-Spades}, two pair aces and deuces with a bad low. Pescatori showed {2-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {K-Clubs} for a better low. He nailed an eight-high straight to go along with it when the river fell {7-Spades}. That was enough to end Brunson's day.

Rouhani Hangs In There

Farzad Rouhani was down to mere shrapnel when he moved all in under the gun, and the big blind called him without any hesitation.

Rouhani: {A-?} {3-?} {4-?} {7-?}
Big blind: {Q-?} {J-?} {10-?} {3-?}

Board: {9-?} {8-?} {6-?} {K-?} {3-?}

Rouhani moved on up to 7,200 and was immediately moved to another table where he's currently seated next to Mel Judah.

Waggoner Rivers Selbst

A dangerous play worked out for Marsha Waggoner. She was on the button and put in a raise preflop after Vanessa Selbst and one other player limped in. The action was four-handed on a flop of {Q-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {5-Spades}, with action checking to Waggoner. Her bet folded one player before Selbst raised. The player in between called two cold before Waggoner called as well.

The turn fell {Q-Diamonds}. Selbst bet and was called by both other players. She fired again on the river {9-Diamonds}. That got rid of one player, but not Waggoner. Waggoner called with {J-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {A-Clubs} {2-Hearts}, a queen-high straight, which was enough to beat Selbst's trip queens, {A-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {6-Spades}.

Guten Morgan

Jordan Morgan has just doubled up a teeny tiny short stack player to a still pretty sad 4,000 -- full houses all round, but a bigger house for the short stack.

Morgan: {3-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {4-Clubs}
Mr Shortie: {K-Spades} {K-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}

Board: {2-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs} {8-Diamonds}

Not to worry, though, Morgan fans -- he's extremely comfortable on 47,000.

Thang Luu Gone

All of the players in the tournament can breathe a sigh of relief. Thang Luu, the plyer who won back-to-back Omaha bracelets in 2008 and 2009, has been eliminated from the tournament.

Luu's demise came largely at the hand of Pat Poels. Poels raised preflop from under the gun and was called only by Luu from the small blind. Luu check-called one bet on the {9-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} flop. When the turn fell {Q-Diamonds}, Luu checked again. The two players wound up getting in four bets each by the time all of the action was done.

Luu led the river {7-Spades}, then called a last raise from Poels. Luu's flopped set of fours, {4-?} {4-?} {5-?} {6-?}, were overtaken by Poels' turned set of queens, {A-?} {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {q-?}. That hand left Luu with just 3,000 chips; he was out one hand later.

Poels is up to 71,500.

Busting Fast

We're down to just 88 runners from the 196 who started Day 2, and we're not even at the dinner break yet.

Still, there's a long way to go before we hit that final table...
