Turner Chips Up; Bechtel Eliminated

Jim Bechtel Eliminated
Jim Bechtel Eliminated
Stud-8

Sagstrom: (X-X) {9-Spades}
Wahlbeck: (X-X) {Q-Spades}{6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{J-Spades} (X)
Turner: (X-X) {7-Spades}{4-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} (X)
Bechtel: (X-X) {4-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} (X)

Erik Sagstrom completed, Ville Wahlbeck raised and Jon 'PearlJammer' Turner called all in for his last 26,000 chips. Jim Bechtel then reraised forcing a fold from Sagstrom as Wahlbeck made the call.

With only two live players left, they checked fourth and fifth before Wahlbeck fired a bet on sixth. Bechtel called and then called all in for his last chips on the river.

Wahlbeck showed a jack in the hole for jacks and sixes which was enough to win the side pot as Turner scooped the main pot with ({6-?}{4-?}{2-?}) for a straight and low to send Bechtel to the rail.

Turner was able to chip again in the very next Stud-8 hand to now sit a bit more comfortably with 150,000 chips.

Bill Chen (X)(X){7-?} {3-?} {K-?} {10-?} (X)
Gus Hansen (X)(X) {4-?} {J-?} {6-?} {K-?}
Erik Seidel (X)(X) {A-?} {A-?} {4-?} {9-?} (X)

A massive pot had built on sixth street when we caught up with this hand. Chen led out on the river, Hansen folded and Seidel made what looked like a crying call.

Chen showed {5-?} {A-?} {2-?}, rivering a 7-5-3-2-A low to take down the monster pot. He's now up to 648,000 in chips.

Sagstrom Cracks One Million

Erik Sagstrom is the first player to pass the one million chip mark as he assumes the tournament chip lead.

Top five counts:

Erik Sagstrom - 1,250,000
Ray Dehkharghani - 880,000
Freddy Deeb - 800,000
Gus Hansen - 725,000
Bill Chen - 648,000

Meanwhile at the other end of proceedings Jerry Buss was a recent elimination from the event.

Bad News for Bill Chen Fans

Stud

Easy come, easy go for Bill Chen. John Kabbaj was the bring in and called when Chen completed on third.

Chen fired bets on fourth and fifth, before being raised on sixth by Kabbaj. Chen made the call and then check-called a bet on the river.

Kabbaj: {2-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{5-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} ({5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{K-Clubs})
Chen: (X-X) {Q-Spades}{10-Hearts}{2-Spades}{4-Diamonds} (X)

Kabbaj showed trip fives to take it down as Chen mucked. Chen is back to 500,000 with Kabbaj moving to 440,000.

Perry Falls To Antonius

Ralph Perry Eliminated
Ralph Perry Eliminated
Stud

After being dented in hand against Erik Seidel where Seidel made a full house, Ralph Perry was committed in a hand against Patrik Antonius.

Antonius completed and Perry made the call, and called bets on fourth before being all in on fifth. The boards ran out...

Antonius: ({4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}) {Q-Spades}{6-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} ({Q-Clubs})
Perry: ({K-Clubs}{5-Hearts}) {5-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{J-Spades} ({A-Spades})

Perry was in front with his split fives but Antonius rivered two pair to collect the pot and eliminate Perry from the tournament.

Richey Takes One from Deeb

Hold'em

Freddy Deeb limped in from the small blind, Brett Richey raised from the big and Deeb called. The flop came down {9-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} and Deeb passed the action to Richey, who bet. Deeb came back with a raise, and Richey called. The turn came the {6-Hearts} and Richey called Deeb's lead bet. Both players checked the {3-Clubs} on the river.

Richey's {4-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} was good against Deeb's {A-Hearts} {8-Spades} for a busted straight draw and he increased his stack to 290,000. Deeb was still quite healthy, though, with 630,000 in chips.

The Richey Get Richer

Omaha-8

With the flop reading {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}{3-Hearts} the action was fast and furious between Ray Dehkharghani, Pat Bueno and Brett Richey. Bueno stepped aside after a bet and a raise, as Richey and Dehkharghani capped the action.

On the {K-Diamonds} turn Richey fired from the big blind and Dehkharghani made the call, with the same pattern following on the {2-Spades} river.

Richey revealed {3-Spades}{9-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts} for a full house which was good as Dehkharghani mucked. A big pot for Richey jumps him to 500,000 with Dehkharghani down to 670,000.

Gus Hansen (X)(X) {Q-Clubs} {3-Spades} {10-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} (X)

Mike Wattel completed on third street and Gus Hansen called. Wattel led on fourth street and Hansen called while both players checked on fifth. Hansen took the lead with an open pair of queens on sixth street and led out, getting a call from Wattel. Hansen also bet the river and Wattel called.

"You probably win," said Hansen.

Wattel turned up {9-Hearts} {9-Clubs} {7-Hearts} for two pair, nines and deuces. Hansen mucked and Wattel won the pot.

Wattel - 540,000

Aces Up for Lunkin

Stud

Vitaly Lunkin (X)(X) {10-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {A-Hearts} (X)
Ville Wahlbeck (X)(X) {8-Hearts} {K-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {6-Clubs} (X)

Ville Wahlbeck completed on third street and Vitaly Lunkin called. Walhbeck caught a king on fourth street and led out. Lunkin called, and they went to fifth street, where Wahlbeck led again. Lunkin came along, then caught an ace on sixth street. He led out, Wahlbeck raised, and Lunkin called. Both players checked the river.

Lunkin showed {A-?} {10-?} {Q-?} for aces up, crushing Wahlbeck's eights and sixes with {8-?} {4-?} {6-?}.

PearlJammer on the Short Stack

Stud

Jon 'PearlJammer' Turner has been crippled after being forced out of a Stud hand against Thor Hansen.

Bach: (X-X) {9-Spades}
Turner: (X-X) {4-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Hansen: (X-X) {4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{5-Clubs}

The betting action was a little unusual. David Bach completed and Hansen called. Turner then raised and Bach folded. Hansen then put in another raise which Turner just called.

Turner check-called on fourth before having to release when Hansen fired again on fifth.

Turner is down to his last 48,000 chips.
