Supreme Coin Flip

Jeff "YoungSupremacy" Hakim and Betrand "ElkY" Grospellier just butted heads in a 200,000-chip coin flip.

We missed the exact action, but when we got to the table the board read {10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{10-Spades}{4-Hearts}{K-Clubs} and in front of Hakim lay {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}. According to another player at the table, Grospellier held queens and it was a, "Huge flip."

Hakim's stack ballooned to 220,000 chips and Grospellier is in trouble with just 10,000 chips.

Hamrick Out, Hinkle Getting Close

Dean Hamrick got all of his money in before the flop with {4-Diamonds} {4-Hearts}, and he ran into both Christopher Giddings' {J-Hearts} {J-Spades} and Blair Hinkle's {A-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}.

The board changed nothing as it ran out {5-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {9-Spades} {3-Clubs} {3-Hearts}, and that big pot goes to Giddings. We'll have to wait a minute for him to stack chips so we can count him down, but we can tell you that Hamrick is out, and Hinkle has been crippled all the way down to just 18,000 lonely chips.

Update: Giddings appears to have taken over the chip lead with that pot; he's all the way up to 346,000.

Schulte Won't Nguyen

Matthew Schulte was all in for his tournament life against John Nguyen at their table in the Amazon Room. Schulte held {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades} and was racing against Nguyen's {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}.

The board ran {7-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{K-Hearts} and Schulte's hand did not improve, sending him to the rail.

Nguyen's stack is even bigger, he now sits with 364,000 chips.

Presto for Turcotte

Zachary Turcotte put his 59,700 chips into the middle preflop with {5-Clubs} {5-Spades}, and he was racing for double or nothing against Brandon Croft and his {Ah] {K-Clubs}.

There was a beautiful five on the flop for Turcotte, and the board of {5-Hearts} {Q-Spades} {9-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} held his pair to earn him a big double up close to 130,000. Croft, on the other hand, is left with just 22,000 chips in front of him.

It's Always Funner...

Pat Anderson and Andrey Zaichenko each put about over 100,000 chips in the pot preflop, putting Anderson all in. He was in good shape though, rolling over {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs} to Zaichenko's {A-Clubs} {10-Diamonds}.

He wasn't in good shape for long. The flop was a disastrous {J-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {K-Hearts}, giving Zaichenko the Broadway straight right out of the chute. The turn {A-Diamonds} made things interesting though, as Anderson's two pair gave him three outs to the winning full house.

River: {K-Spades}

Well, wow. In runner-runner fashion, Anderson re-imoroved to the winning boat, shooting his stack up to 227,000 after having one foot out the door just moments ago. Zaichenko is the one in trouble now; he's down to just 12,000.

Rock-owitz Crusher

We joined the action on the flop as the dealer was spreading out {6-Hearts} {5-Spades} {K-Diamonds}. In a heads-up pot, Jesse Rockowitz led out with a two-thirds-pot bet of 10,000. In position, Jason Young made a mini-raise to 20,000, and Rockowitz quickly made the call.

The turn came the {J-Spades}, and Rockowitz checked to the raiser. Young moved all in for about 65,000 total, and Rockowitz tank-called after several minutes, having his opponent covered by just one single black T100 chip. Cards up, gents:

Rockowitz: {Q-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds}
Young: {K-Spades} {Q-Spades}

Young was well out in front and in fine shape to double up, needing to fade just the two offsuit fives in order to win the pot. The river {8-Diamonds} was most certainly a safe card, and that pushes Young up to a very healthy 244,000.

Rockowitz's final chip went into the pot for the next hand's ante, and he was eliminated.

Filippi's Reads Dead On

Amnon Filippi has been making great reads throughout the day and just made another one moments ago.

The board read {5-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} when Filippi bet 16,000 into about a 22,000-chip pot. His opponent called.

Both players checked the {10-Spades} on the turn, but after the river brought the {K-Spades} Filippi's opponent led for 22,500. Filippi took his time to think it through and eventually made the call.

His opponent rolled over {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for a pair of fives and a busted flush draw and Filippi tabled {Q-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for a winning pair of nines.

That great call has Filippi's stack at 180,000 chips.
