Painter Eats the Meek

Jameson Painter raised from under the gun, and had James Meek raise from the button. Not to be outdone, Jimmie Julion raised from the big blind and got a call out of both players.

The flop came {4-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and Painter led out with a bet. Meek raised, putting himself all in, and Julion raised once more. Painter made the call and the two went to the turn.

The turn came {2-Spades} and Julion called a bet from Painter, something he would also do when the river came {9-Hearts}.

When it was time to flip up the cards, Painter came out on top having hit trip nines on the river:

Painter: {8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Julion: {10-}{10-}
Meek: {3-}{3-}

Meek was sent to the rail, and Julion was crippled. He would be eliminated in the next hand.

Chan Decimates Schwartz

Terrence Chan raise under the gun, and Ylon Schwartz re-raised in the next position. Action folded to Chan, who called. Chan check-called all the way through to the river. With the board reading {q-Clubs}{j-Spades}{7-Clubs}{8-Clubs}(Xc), they both checked. We're not sure if anyone was expecting the showdown we got:

Schwartz: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}
Chan: {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}

Chan managed to hit a flush, building his stack to 179,000, while Schwratz was left with just 16,000.

Shamrock Not So Lucky

We arrived just in time to see Tom McCormick - "The Shamrock Kid" - busting out. His former stack was being restacked by one Terrence Chan.

"What's your name?" McCormick asked him for some reason as he exited. Chan owned up, and McCormick headed for the payout desk.

And We're Back, Again

Although we've been losing players at a good steady rate, and have dropped more than two thirds of the field in six levels of play, it looks like it's going to be a long, hard slog to a final table.

50 players remain. Shuffle up and deal.
