Scott Seiver called to another player's completion on third street, and then called a raise from Eric Friedman (the completer folded).
Seiver check-called further bets from Friedman down streets four through six, before Friedman checked behind on seventh. Friedman turned over a pair of aces, and Seiver was down to just 16,000.
A few hands later, and Seiver busted out very quietly while no-one was looking. When he got to the payout desk, the TD accidentally issued him with a payout slip for the PLO event that's taking place across the way. We hope he did well...
We were waiting anxiously for our two chip leaders to clash and we didn't have to wait for long. Sorel Mizzi completed before Pat Pezzin raised. Mizzi made the call and again on fourth, before raising it on fifth. Pezzin called the raise and then called Mizzi down on sixth and seventh streets.
Mizzi: () /
Pezzin: (XXX) /
A well disguised trip fives for Mizzi and he rakes in the pot to move to outright chip leader with 290,000 and Pezzin drops to 225,000.
Sergey Pomerantsev completed with the before Said Elsanafiri raised with the showing. The table folded around and Pomerantsev made the call.
On fourth, Elsanafiri checked and called, before check-raising on fifth to put Pomerantsev all in.
Elsanafiri: () / / ()
Pomerantsev: () / / ()
Elsanafiri was ahead the whole way and sealed the deal with set on sixth to eliminate Pomerantsev from the tournament. Elsanafiri is up to 100,000 chips.
Greg Mascio had just lost a sizable pot to Vorakboth Eam, so by the time we caught up with him he was down to just 1,500 after he'd paid his ante. It naturally went in on third street; a bet from Owais Ahmed on fourth got rid of Julian Herold who'd also briefly been interested, and they were heads up at a showdown.
Mascio: (X) in no particular order
Ahmed: , again, in random order
Christine Pietsch completed and both Sorel Mizzi and Peter Klaus-Stohner both called.
Mizzi was first to act on fourth street and he bet out. Klaus-Stohner raised, Pietsch got out of their way and Mizzi made the call.
Mizzi bet out again on sixth, and this time Klaus-Stohner's raise was all in for 5,200. Mizzi called, and his two pair was good against Klaus-Stohner's pair of jacks to send the latter to the rail.
Michael Rocco was all in on third street for his last chips against Scott Seiver and Eric Friedman in a re-raised pot. The two live players checked fourth street before Friedman bet fifth to force a fold from Seiver.
Seiver: (XX) /
Rocco: () /
Friedman: () /
Rocco made a decent set of sixes but Friedman rivered a full house to take it down and eliminate Rocco from the tournament. Friedman moves up to 80,000.
