So Long, Steve Sung

Christoph Kwon raised preflop, and he found a call from Steve Sung.

Heads up, the flop came out {9-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {10-Clubs}, and Sung led out wiht a bet. Kwon raised, and Sung called to see the {A-Hearts} on the turn. This time it was Sung doing the raising when Kwon bet, and Kwon made the call all in for his tournament life. Sung had just 9,000 chips left behind, so this pot was essentially a double up for either of them. Cards up, gents:

Kwon: {10-Hearts} {10-Spades}
Sung: {A-Clubs} {K-Clubs}

Sung was already drawing dead with just his naked top pair, and the meaningless {8-Clubs} filled out the board. That moves Kwon up to 110,000, leaving Sung with just those few tiny chips to try and mount a comeback.

But alas, he was eliminated on the very next hand.

I Have a Feeling You're Not in the Tournament Anymore, Toto

We joined the action on a {4-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {J-Clubs} flop just as David Chiu was check-raising Toto Leonidas, and both players put in two bets going to the {K-Diamonds} turn. Chiu bet out, and this time Leonidas stuck in the raise. Chiu promptly three-bet it, and Leonidas flat-called the extra full bet.

That brought them to the {7-Spades} river, and Chiu fired a bet in the dark. Leonidas had just 7,000 chips left, and he elected to fold away his cards and save that bet for a better spot.

Leonidas found his spot to get those 7,000 chips into the pot one hand later, but he was unable to survive his all in, ending his day just a few spots shy of the money.

Akkari All-Out

Andre Akkari
Andre Akkari

Andre Akkari opened for a raise, Michael Mizrachi three-bet and Akkari four-bet all- in for 33,000.

"33,000? Perfect, I have two threes," said Mizrachi as he made the call. Akkari turned over {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}.

Mizrachi flopped a set on the {9-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} board and sent Akkari to the rail. He's up to 395,000.

Barlow Bows Out

Todd Barlow was down to just one lonely orange T1,000 chip after calling a raise and folding one hand ago. That last chip went into this most recent pot with Barlow, and he wouldn't get it back. Barlow lost his final hand, and he has been knocked off shy of a payday.

Minnullin Flops the Joint

Kyle Ray opened for a raise, Albert Minnullin three-bet and Ray called. The flop came down {K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} and Ray check-raised Minnullin's bet. Minnullin called and they went to the turn which fell the {5-Spades}. Ray bet, Minnullin raised and Ray called. The river was the {7-Hearts} and Ray check-called one more bet.

Minnullin showed {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs} and took it down with his flopped straight. He's up to 190,000.

DeBora Doubles

Matt Keikoan opened with a button raise, and Team PokerStars Pro Greg DeBora called from the button.

Heads up, the flop came out {2-Spades} {2-Diamonds} {8-Hearts}, and DeBora fired out a bet. Keikoan called, and he called again when DeBora bet all in on the {A-Hearts} turn. Keikoan turned over {10-Hearts} {3-Hearts} for the flush draw, and DeBora was looking for a double up with {A-Diamonds} {9-Hearts}.

The river was a blank and a safe rag for DeBora, and he's back up to 65,000.

Along with DeBora, Anh Van Nguyen is the only other member of the Team PokerStars Pros left in our field, and both men share a Canadian ancestry. We'll remind you casually, then, that this event was won by a Canadian last year (Greg Mueller) with another Canadian (Pat Pezzin) finishing as the runner up.

Kwon Moves On

Mark Klecan raised from the cutoff seat, and Christoph Kwon three-bet him from the small blind.

The flop came down {3-Spades} {5-Hearts} {6-Hearts} with Kwon betting and Klecan calling. On the {J-Diamonds} turn, Kwon bet all in for his last 4,000 chips, and Klecan put him to the test, turning up {4-Hearts} {4-Diamonds}. Kwon was drawing to six outs with {K-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}, and the river {3-Clubs} was no help at all.

Unable to improve his overcards, Christoph Kwon is out in 22nd place.

Groysman Hits His Flush

On a flop of {A-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Hearts}, Zvi Groysman checked, Matt Keikoan bet, and Groysman raised. Keikoan made it three bets and Groysman called. Both players checked the {4-Diamonds} on the turn. The river was the {J-Hearts} and Groysman led out. Keikoan called.

Groysman showed {6-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for the flush and Keikoan mucked.

"I flopped a big hand, but it didn't look so big on the turn anymore," quipped Groysman as he stacked up his 370,000 in chips.
