Day 3 Approaches

Just 14 players remain as we head into Day 3, the final day of this $2,500 PLH/PLO party.

We don't yet know where the tournament will be - it's too early for the bags to be out. However we do know when it will be, and that magical time is 3pm, in around an hour.

Jose-Luis Velador leads the field, but there's just a whisker between him and David Chiu. Also still in are Rob Hollink, Victor Ramdin, Kevin MacPhee, and the multi-tabling Phil Ivey will be attempting to play both this event and the heads up across the way

We'll be back in an hour.

Cowboys No Good for MacPhee

Pot-Limit Omaha

The board read {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} when we arrived; three players were still in the hand and it look as though it had been checked down that far.

When we got there, it was to witness Irish Open champion James Mitchell checking to Kevin MacPhee in the cutoff, who bet 25,000. The action moved to Victor Ramdin on the button, who promptly raised. Mitchell got out of there quickly, and MacPhee folded {k-}{k-} up with a grin.

MacPhee - 191,000
Ramdin - 320,000

Velador Tanks

Pot-Limit Omaha

Phil Ivey started things off with a limp under the gun and then Jose-Luis Velador completed from the small blind after action folded to him. Gavin Cochrane was in the big blind and raised to 24,000. Ivey called and then Velador called as well.

The flop came down {A-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts} and Velador checked. Cochrane fired a continuation bet worth 48,000 and then Ivey folded. Velador tanked for several minutes and eventually folded.

Konstantin Bucherl Eliminated in 14th Place ($12,671)

Konstantin Bucherl - 14th Place
Konstantin Bucherl - 14th Place

Pot-Limit Omaha

Victor Ramdin and Konstantin Bucherl got all the money in on the flop of {10-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Diamonds}. Ramdin held the {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} for bottom two pair and Bucherl held the {K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{J-Spades}{3-Diamonds} for a flush draw.

The turn was the {2-Spades} and filled up Ramdin, leaving Bucherl making his way to the exit. The river then completed the board with the {A-Spades}.

Bucherl was the first person eliminated and earned $12,671 for his 14th-place finish.

Chiu Chiu Train

Pot-Limit Hold'em

David Chiu checked the {3-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop to Phil Ivey, who bet 27,000. Chiu made the call.

They proceeded to check down the {7-Clubs} turn and {q-Diamonds} river, and Chiu turned over {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds}. Ivey presumably couldn't beat it, as he mucked and dropped a little to 175,000. Chiu meanwhile upped his stack to 480,000.

In fact Chiu picked up another small pot courtesy of chip leader Jose-Luis Velador a couple hands later, and is now at 480,000.
