Multi-Tabling

Phil Ivey and Justin Smith have both only been seen in flashes here in Event No. 33. Ivey and Smith are involved in the $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em / Six Handed event that's going on down the hall in the Pavilion and have been splitting their time between this and that. Ivey likes to take the back hallways over to the other room to cut down some time and save himself from being stopped by numerous fans looking to chat, sign autographs or take photos with Ivey.

Team PokerStars Update

Pot-Limit Omaha

Greg Raymer (Team Pro USA) has chipped back up after eliminating Dewey Tomko in Pot-Limit Omaha. Under the gun, Tomko raised to 1,050 and the player in the hijack called. Raymer made it about 4,500 to play from the button and Tomko called all in for another 1,800. The opponent in the hijack folded and the hands were revealed.

Raymer: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{J-Clubs}
Tomko: {J-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

The board ran out {6-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{J-Spades} as Raymer's aces dodged many outs to up his stack to 8,700.

Here are the chip counts of other Team PokerStars Pros:

Victor Ramdin (Team Pro USA): 21,000
Thomas Bichon (Team Pro France): 15,700
Bill Chen (Friend of PokerStars): 12,500
Michael Keiner (Team Pro Germany): 8,800

Joe Hachem (Team Pro Australia) was recently eliminated.

Vengrin's Queens Run Into Kings

Four players saw a flop of {J-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} in a raised pot. One player bet 4,000 on the flop and only Matt Vengrin called. The turn brought the {9-Diamonds} and Vengrin's opponent moved all in for 1,550. Vengrin made the call. He held the {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}, but was behind his opponent's {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}. Teh river completed the board with the {5-Clubs} and Vengrin dropped to 25,600 in chips.

Smith Boosting His Stack

Pot-Limit Omaha

An early-position player raised to 800 and Justin Smith called from middle position. The player in the cutoff called as well and the flop came down {7-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{4-Diamonds}. They all checked, landing the {9-Diamonds} on the turn. The early-position player bet 2,000 and Smith was the lone caller. The river was the {3-Clubs} and both opted to check.

Smith tabled {9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{10-Hearts} for two pair, good enough to win the pot.

He recently busted from the $5k six-max and has since upped his stack from 14,000 to about 90,000 here.

Griffin Soars

Pot-Limit Hold'em

We caught up to the action on the turn with the board reading {K-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{K-Hearts} and 5,000 chips in the middle between Ashton Griffin and his opponent. The player checked to Griffin and he fired 3,500 into the middle. His opponent thought and then min-raised to 7,000. Griffin came back over the top with a min-reraise to 10,500. His opponent just called.

The river card was the {6-Hearts} and Griffin's opponent moved all in for about 12,000 total. Griffin paused for only a brief moment and then made the call. The player tabled the {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} for just queen high having missed his straight draw and Griffin showed the winner with the {K-Clubs}{9-Hearts}. With that pot, Griffin sent one player to the rail and moved himself up to 80,000 in chips.
