Strassman Sends Hollink Railward

Another battle of big pairs here at the start of the evening session, this one between Rob Hollink and Johannes Strassman. The pair managed not to get it all in before the {9-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} flop, but did after, with Hollink holding {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts} and Strassmann {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}.

The turn was the {2-Hearts} and river the {4-Spades}, and Hollink is out. Strassmann sits with 140,000 at present.

Minnullin Fills Up

Shawn Keller opened for a 7,500 raised from early position and got two callers, including Albert Minnullin. The flop was {5-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{3-Hearts} and Keller checked. One opponent bet 18,000, Minnullin called and Keller folded. They went heads-up to the turn, which fell the {7-Spades}. Both players checked, then did the same when the {3-Clubs} hit the river.

Minnullin showed {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades} and took it down. He's up to 187,000.

The Power of Positive Thinking, by Mike Matusow

Two big pots in a row has Mike Matusow embracing the power of positive thinking. First, he took his pocket aces up against Josh Tieman's pocket queens to double his stack. A few hands later, Matusow went heads-up to a {Q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop with the small blind. Both players checked and the {6-Diamonds} came on the turn. The small blind bet 10,500, Matusow raised to 22,000 and got a fold.

"Now that's the power of positive thinking!" declared Matusow as he stacked up his 85,000 in chips.

Radoja Bounce

Marco Traniello opened with a raise to 8,500 in early position, then Mark Radoja reraised to 30,000 from the button, leaving himself 14,000 behind. The small blind folded, but the player in the big blind shoved over the top for 68,000 total. Traniello stepped aside, but Radoja made the call, putting himself all in.

Radoja turned over {A-Hearts}{J-Spades} and his opponent {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}. The flop brought not one jack, but two -- {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{3-Spades} -- putting Radoja way out in front. The turn was the {5-Diamonds} and the river the {4-Clubs}, and Radoja catapults up to right at 100,000.

A Thumy-Ache for Minnullin

We came up on a big hand between Clement Thumy and Albert Minnullin once the pair had reached the river. The board read {10-Clubs}{K-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{4-Hearts}, Minnullin had checked from early position, and Thumy had pushed out a few stacks of pink chips for a pot-sized bet of 115,000.

Minnullin considered for a while before folding, watching somewhat ruefully as Thumy showed his hand before stacking the chips -- {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}.

Thumy is up to 535,000, while Minnulin tumbles back to 52,000.

River Chases Jace

Clement Thumy opened for 8,500 from the hijack seat and got two callers from the blinds -- Daryl Jace (SB) and Albert Minnullin (BB).

The flop came {Q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Spades}. Jace led for 15,000, Minnullin called, and Thumy folded. The turn was the {A-Hearts}, and after pausing about a half-minute Jace put the rest of his 35,000 in the middle. Minnullin took four minutes contemplating what to do. To call and lose would leave him just 30,000 behind. Finally he did make the call.

Jace flipped over {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for the turned pair of aces, while Minnullin tabled {Q-Spades}{2-Spades}. But the river brought a saving {2-Hearts} for Minnullin, giving him two pair and knocking Jace out.

Minnulin now has 155,000.

Pettersson Victorious in Battle of the Overpairs

Brandon Meyers opened for 8,000, Thomas Pettersson called from the hijack seat, Nikoali Yakovenko called from the small blind and Terrence Reinhart called from the big blind.

The action checked around to Meyers on the {6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop. He bet 18,000, Pettersson re-potted all-in for 49,500, the rest of the table folded and Meyers called.

Pettersson {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Meyers {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}

The turn was the {7-Clubs}, the river was the {9-Clubs} and Pettersson raked in the pot, increasing his stack to 180,000. Meyers was left with 30,000.
