Ivey Drops One

We know he's not invincible, but it still looks strange every time the big man folds. He called a raise out of the big blind to see a {j-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{6-Spades} flop. Ivey bet at it, and his opponent called. He checked the {8-Diamonds} turn, and his opponent checked behind. Ivey had given up by the {3-Hearts} river. He check-folded, dropping to 35,000.

No details -- just the facts. Chuck Thompson recently eliminated Jimmy Fricke. When Fricke's chips were added to Thompson's stack, his count was up to 31,000.

Minieri Survives All In

Dario Minieri
Dario Minieri

Half may not have been quite the result that Dario Minieri was looking for but it was better than the alternative. Minieri, the small blind, called a raise from the button player. The big blind also called to a flop of {8-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds}. Dario confidently led out and was called by both players. Minieri fired again on the {8-Spades} turn; only one player called.

The river {5-Spades} put a low on boar and also led to the last of Mineri's chips being tossed into the pot. His opponent called with {a-Spades} {4-Spades} {j-Spades} {2-Spades}, the nut low and trip eights; Minieri showed {a-Hearts} {a-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {q-Clubs} for the second nut-low and a full house. They chopped up the pot and Minieri went back to looking for a good spot to get his small stack into the middle.

Amnon-gate Resolved Peacefully

Amnon Filippi can go back to focusing on the felt now. Harrah's was able to pinpoint the cause of the registration mistake and solve the problem. Turns out that Filippi was in line at the cage yesterday behind a French player, Steven Aaron. Aaron used cash to buy into today's $1,500 no limit tournament, Event #5, and left the area. Filippi then came up to the window and had out everything he needed so he could register efficiently and speed off to the $1,500 O 8/b without missing any more time than necessary. He quickly handed the cashier his player's card and tournament chips, and apparently she hit auto-register, accidentally using Filippi's tournament chips to register Steven Aaron for this event as well as the no limit event. Harrah's was able to swich Filippi's player's card number with Aaron's and correct the mistake in registration. No harm, no foul. And back to the poker.

Chau Giang Hungry for Chips

Chau Giang has been in a jovial mood all day, and why not? He continues to accumulate chips. He eliminated another player a few moments ago by making the nut-nut. Giang's {a-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {4-Spades} {j-Spades} fit oh-so-nicely with a board of {3-Hearts} {a-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {6-Clubs}, even better when his opponent made a bad low and a bad flush, {a-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {7-Diamonds}.
