Mizrachi Doubles Through Mandel

Scott Mandel opened for 65,000 and Robert Mizrachi called in the small blind. They saw a flop.

Flop: {2-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}

Mizrachi checked and Mandel bet pot - 154,000. Mizrachi now shoved for less than 300,000 total, and Mandel swiftly called.

Mizrachi: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}{q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} for a pair of queens
Mandel: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{9-Clubs}{2-Hearts} for a pair of kings

Mizrachi was in need of some assistance from the board.

Turn: {4-Spades}

No help there. Mizrachi needed a queen, a jack or an ace.

River: {a-Diamonds}

The Mizrachi rail went wild as their boy doubled up to 740,000. Mandel had an expression on his face that can only be described as 'gutted'. He dropped to 640,000.

Jose "Nacho" Barbero Eliminated in 9th Place ($40,364)

Jose Barbero - 9th Place
Jose Barbero - 9th Place

Danny Smith raised to 65,000, and Robert Mizrachi flatted. On the button, Jose "Nacho" Barbero moved all in for 256,000 total. Smith snap called, and Mizrachi folded as fast as he could. Everyone jumped out of their seats to get a look at the cards.

Barbero: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}
Smith: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}{q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

The {a-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} flop gave Smith top set and had Barbero drawing extremely thin. The {4-Clubs} turn was enough to end his tournament, and after the {6-Clubs} river, he shook hands with the table and made his exit.

Smith moved up to 1.34 million after notching the final table's first knockout.

Chance Would Be a Fine Thing

In with a Chance

Robert Mizrachi, by far the most aggressive player at this final table so far, opened for 80,000. Chance Kornuth called on the button, as did Eric Liu and Ted Martin in the blinds.

They saw a {7-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} flop and it checked around to Kornuth, who bet pot - 320,000. Like dominoes his opponents all gave it up, and Kornuth raked in the pot.

---

A few hands later and Mizrachi limped in, only for Kornuth to raise pot. Martin tanked up and eventually called on the button, Mizrachi folded, and they were heads up to the flop.

Flop: {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}{7-Clubs}

Kornuth bet out 200,000, and after a few moments of squinting at the felt (he likes to take his time over decisions, does Martin), Martin folded and Kornuth again took the pot.

He's up to 1.3 million.

Martin Pilfers Mandel's Stack

Four players limped to an {8-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop. Scott Mandel checked his small blind, Julian Gardner checked the big, and Ted Martin potted for 120,000. Kevin Boudreau folded, and Mandel made a thoughtful call. Garder got out of the way, and they were heads up to the {j-Spades} turn. Mandel checked again, and Martin bet 360,000. It didn't take Mandel very long to decide to fold, saving himself 700,000. Martin moved up to 1.1 million.

Liu Looking Less than P3achy

Eric Liu raised to 75,000, and Danny Smith defended his big blind. The flop fell {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{4-Spades}, and Smith checked. Liu bet 105,000, and Smith instantly check-raised to 250,000. Liu didn't like it, but after checking his hand again, he gave it up. Liu has dropped to 400,000, while Smith just keeps building. He's up to 1.4 million now.
