Antonio Can't Beat Ace-High

There was already about 3,200 in the pot when Antonio Esfandiari and David Williams went heads-up to a {K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} flop. Esfandiari bet 2,225 and Williams called. The turn came the {3-Spades} and Esfandiari bet another 5,300. Again, Williams looked him up. The river was the {5-Spades} and both players checked.

Williams turned up {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} and Esfandiari mucked. He is up to 80,000 while Esfandiari is on 90,000.

Mizzi Pressures Saout

Sorel Mizzi
Sorel Mizzi

In a hand that lasted a good twenty minutes and didn't even get to see a river card, Sorel Mizzi has won a huge pot against Frenchman and 2009 November Niner Antoine Saout.

Saout started with a raise from middle position to 1,200 with the player in the small blind making the call, before the action was with Mizzi in the big blind. He announced a raise and made it 4,300 to play. Back on Saout and he took his time before putting in a four-bet to 11,100.

The small blind considered a call but decided to release and the action was now back on Mizzi. He also took a moment or two before he decided to put in yet another raise. He five-bet it to 24,800. With thanks to the deep stacks, Saout was able to make the call and see a flop.

The flop landed {Q-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{J-Hearts} and Mizzi splashed the pot with 19,500. Saout made the call and a massive pot had developed.

The turn was the {5-Clubs} and there was no more messing around from Mizzi as he moved all in for Saout's last 55,000 chips. Here's where time stood still for a good eight minutes as Saout thought long and hard about making the call for his tournament life. No one rushed his decision. No one spoke a word. All remained silent as Saout eventually folded and Mizzi was awarded the pot without showdown.

Mizzi is now up to 165,000 with Saout down to 55,000.

Trip Kings for Mosseri

On the flop of {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{2-Hearts}, Abe Mosseri and McLean Karr both checked before action got to Tobias Reinkemeier. He fired a bet of 1,750. Mosseri called and Karr folded. The turn card brought the {5-Diamonds} and Mosseri checked again. Reinkemeier fired 3,300 and Mosseri called.

After the {10-Hearts} landed on the river, Mosseri checked. Reinkemeier checked behind. Mosseri tabled the {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs} and Reinkemeier mucked.

Reinkemeier dropped back to 81,500 and Mosseri moved up to 64,300.

Homeboy {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}

Jaffe flopped the nut straight and it held up through the {10-Diamonds} on the turn and the {J-Clubs} on the river to take his stack up to 115,000.

Accommodating the Players

Tournament director Jack Effel informed the media and the players that the reason for moving the players across the hall to the Amazon Room was to better accommodate the players playing multiple events. There's a few of them that will be multi-tabling the $25,000 event along with some other ones restarting today and it's simply easier for them to just have to run across the room 50 feet rather than down a back hallway or weed through a sea of fans asking for pictures and autographs.
