Big Pot For Just Ace-High

We arrived at the table with the board reading {2-Clubs}{7-Spades}{8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and what we assume was a raise from Sorel Mizzi of an additional 45,000 over the top of a bet from Scott Montgomery.

It didn't take long for Montgomery to respond by moving all in for roughly 19,000 more with Mizzi making the pot-committed call.

Montgomery: {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Mizzi: {J-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

We were expecting to see some big hands but it was ace-high versus jack-high as both players were drawing!

Mizzi needed a non-club jack or ten to win it, or a non-club five to chop, but the river bricked the {Q-Spades} as Montgomery took down the huge pot with just ace-high.

Mizzi slips to 130,000 as Montgomery is now up to 180,000.

Seiver Sucks Out On Carroll

The hijack seat began the action by raising to 1,500 and then Cory Carroll reraised to 4,300 in the cutoff position. Scott Seiver four-bet to 10,200 from the big blind and action folded back to Carroll. He five-bet to 25,000 before Seiver shoved in. Carroll called.

Seiver held the {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, but was behind the {K-Hearts}{K-Spades} for Carroll.

The flop was clean as far as Carroll was concerned, coming down {A-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Spades}. The turn was a dagger though, with the {10-Spades} spiking down. Carroll did have a spade draw along with two more kings to win the hand on the river, but the {7-Clubs} just wouldn't do it and he was eliminated. Seiver boosted his stack to 167,000 in chips.

Freddy More Than Doubles

Freddy Deeb
Freddy Deeb

Ryan Fair moved all in for his last 15,000 chips before Freddy Deeb came over the top for his 42,000-chip stack. David Paredes had them both covered and he made the call to attempt to bust two players.

Fair: {K-Spades}{J-Diamonds}
Deeb: {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}
Paredes: {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}

The board was spread {2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and Deeb's pair held up to more than double up to 105,000. Paredes slips to 127,000 with Fair hitting the rail.

666 Spells Doom for Deeb

On a {6-Spades}{8-Spades}{10-Hearts} flop, Shaun Deeb faced a 3,700 bet. He raised to 15,050 and a second opponent came over the top for 36,000. Deeb set out a huge stack of his large-denomination chips, setting the reraiser all-in. He made the call.

Deeb {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}
Homeboy {A-Spades}{10-Spades}

The turn was the {5-Clubs}, but the river was the {K-Spades} and Deeb shipped the vast majority of his stack across the table.

Break It Up

The players are now taking another twenty-minute break, during which the green 25-denomination chips will be colored up and raced off.

Chris Moorman Eliminated

On a {5-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds} board, Martins Adeniya set Chris Moorman all-in for 43,000 with 45,000 already in the pot. Moorman tanked for a few minutes before making the call.

Moorman turned up {4-Spades}{5-Diamonds} for two pair, but Adeniya had just a slightly bigger two pair with {4-Hearts}{6-Hearts}. Moorman was eliminated and Adeniya is up to 151,000.

Wahlbeck Jacked

Heather Sue Mercer and Ville Wahlbeck both committed their chips on a flop of {2-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{J-Clubs} with Wahlbeck all in for his tournament life. He opened {K-Clubs}{K-Spades} for an overpair but Mercer held {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} for top set.

The turn was the {5-Clubs} and river the {3-Diamonds} and Mercer makes a full house to move up to 220,000 and eliminate the Finnish superstar from the tournament.

Mercer Making Moves

The button opened for 2,000, Heather Sue Mercer three-bet to 7,000 from the small blind and the button called. Mercer led out for 8,000 on the {10-Spades}{7-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop, the button raised to 24,000 and Mercer shoved all-in. That move got a fold and Mercer took down the pot. She's up to 160,000.
