Man Down!

Al Bari from an earlier event
Al Bari from an earlier event

Phil Ivey began the action with a raise to 800 from under the gun. Chad Brown flat-called on the button and then wealthy Hungarian Sandor Demjan called from the small blind. Al Bari was in the big blind and reraised to 4,400. Ivey folded and Brown folded, but Demjan made the call.

The flop came down {6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Demjan was first up. He led out with a bet of 5,000 into Bari, who then raised to 15,100. Demjan reraised to 40,000 and Bari stuck it all in. Demjan quickly called having flopped the nuts with the {4-Clubs}{3-Spades}. Bari held the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} and was in some serious trouble.

The turn brought the {5-Spades} and gave Bari a chance to hit a full house and win the hand. The river was the {K-Clubs} though and Bari was eliminated while Demjan doubled his stack to 150,000 in chips.

Brown explained what had happened to neighbor Antonio Esfandiari at the next table over and Esfandiari responded by saying, "These internet wizards man, they never believe anyone can have it."
