We recently heard Dennis Phillips whistling over at his table and went to check out the action. When we arrived we seen the lady in Seat 9 was all in with on a board of against the of Seat 8.
The table erupted when the appeared on the river to give the lady quads and a much needed double up. "A little overkill on the river," Phillips chuckled.
Today PokerNews has launched a new live reporting iPhone app, currently available for free over at iTunes. (Link opens iTunes store)
The app allows one to access all of the live tournament coverage happening here on PokerNews right on the iPhone, including the live reporting (i.e., blog posts like this one), chip counts, payouts, photos, and even the shoutbox. Read more about it here.
I've only just downloaded the app to mine, and am anxious to explore its features -- perhaps at the next break. Meanwhile, I'm keeping my eye out to see the first player checking the app as I walk back through the tables!
Two Team PokerStars Pros have been on the opposite end of the spectrum so far today. Team Pro USA members Victor Ramdin and Gavin Griffin are the two pros involved. It seems Ramdin has been eliminated here late in Level 2 while Griffin is up to over 9,000.

With the board showing and about 1,000 already in the middle, a player in middle position bet 450, and the action was on 2008 WSOP Main Event November Niner Ylon Schwartz.
Schwartz asked his opponent how much he had left -- 2,300, more than Schwartz's stack. The chess master who finished fourth in the '08 WSOP ME thought a half-minute longer, then let it go.
Schartz has 1,550 at present, a little over half the starting stack.
Faraz Jaka shoved all in for his last 1,450 from under the gun, and the table folded around to Yuji Masaki in the small blind who then reraised all in. The big blind considered for a while, but got out, and the remaining players tabled their cards.

We've recently discovered that the tournament began with some tables located in the Amazon Room. We made our way over there and discovered that there was in fact around twenty tables tucked away in the corner. The only notable we could spot in the crowd though was 2007 Main Event winner, Jerry Yang, who was sitting with around 3,500 in chips.
According to the tournament staff, the plan is to break those tables as soon as possible and bring the players over to the Pavilion Room. This should be completed by the end of the level.
