Lee Drops a Pot

Bernard Lee
Bernard Lee

Bernard Lee drew two on the first draw and his opponent drew one. Lee then check-called a bet before drawing just one card on the second draw. His opponent also drew one. Lee check-called again before drawing another card. His opponent opted to stay pat before both players checked. Lee mucked his hand after his opponent tabled the {J-}{7-}{5-}{3-}{2-} and dropped to 6,000 chips.

Bill Chen Chipping Up

Under the gun, Bill Chen raised and Team PokerStars Hungarian Pro Richard Toth raised from the big blind. Chen called and was surprised to see that Toth stood pat. Chen drew two and was faced with a bet from Toth.

Chen raised it and Toth called. Both stood pat the rest of the way with Toth check-calling bets from Chen, who tabled {7-}{6-}{5-}{4-}{2-} to win the pot.

Bill Chen increased his stack to 8,400 and Richard Toth dropped to 7,300.

A Bigger Field

We've already surpassed the number from last year. There was 247 players in the field for this event last year and the clock already shows that the count is at 270. That's more than 20 players more than last year and a very positive increase here in Event No. 7.

Enter Ivey

Phil Ivey is still in the $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout, but has pulled up a chair to play some triple draw across the hallway here in the Amazon room during the dinner break over there. He's seated with Bill Chen and Amnon Filippi. Out his his seven total bracelets, none are from any straight hold'em variation and one is from the $2,500 No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball last year. This makes him a threat to any mixed-game tournament.

New Tables

The late registration has certainly made for some great tables. Table #290 in the blue section consists of Andy Black, "Captain" Tom Franklin, Erik Seidel, Justin "Boosted J" Smith, and Tom "durrrr" Dwan.

Phil Hellmuth, Barry Greenstein, Jen Harman-Traniello, Steve Billirakis, and Greg Mueller have all taken their seats as well.

Lindgren Gets the Best of O'Brien and Rutter

Dan O'Brien drew one, Erick Lindgren drew one and then Stuart Rutter draw two. After the draw, which was the first, O'Brien checked, Lindgren bet and Rutter called. O'Brien then raised before Lindgren made it three bets. Rutter and O'Brien both called.

On the second draw, O'Brien drew one, Lindgren stood pat and Rutter draw two. O'Brien checked and Lindgren bet. Both Rutter and O'Brien called.

On the third and final draw, O'Brien drew one, Lindgren stood pat again and then Rutter drew one. After the draw, all three players stood pat. O'Brien showed a {Q-} and then Lindgren showed the {8-}{7-}{6-}{5-}{3-}. Rutter mucked and then O'Brien didn't show the rest of his hand.

Lindgren moved up to 10,000 while O'Brien and Rutter slipped to 4,825 and 6,400, respectively.

Jack Beats Jack

Daniel Negreanu's opponent drew two cards before Negreanu drew one. The player then checked to Negreanu, who bet and was called.

Both players then drew one on the second draw. They then both checked.

On the final draw, both players drew one again. Two more checks followed by both players before each of them exposed a {J-}. "Seven!" announced Negreanu, to which his opponent mucked and Negreanu tabled the {J-}{7-}{6-}{5-}{2-}. He's now up to 9,500 chips.
