Kaplan Finds Seventy-Six

Under the gun, Dany Georges raised, and Jeffrey Lisandro called from the button. Both Jaime Kaplan and Farzad Bonyadi came along from the blinds, and it was four-handed to the first draw.

The blinds each drew three cards and checked, and Georges continued out with a bet after drawing one. Lisandro drew two and decided to raise, and Kaplan stuck in a reraise from the small blind. Bonyadi folded out of the way, and the other two players called the three bets to continue in the hand.

Everyone drew one card on the second draw, and the action checked around. They all needed one more card again, and Kaplan's final bet was called only by Georges. Kaplan tabled the best hand, {7-} {6-} {5-} {4-} {2-} to earn himself that nice little pot.

Georges - 5,000
Kaplan - 73,000
Jeffrey Lisandro - 12,000

Mizzi Bests Mueller

With the pot at 11,000 chips, Greg Mueller and Sorel Mizzi were on the final draw. Mueller drew one and Mizzi stood pat. Then, Mueller checked and Mizzi said, "All right, I check," and then tapped the table.

Mueller showed the {9-}{7-}{4-}{3-}{2-} and Mizzi showed the {8-}{7-}{6-}{3-}{2-}. Mizzi's up over 80,000 chips now.

Four bets were put in by Scott Fischman, John Monnette and Raymond Davis. On the first draw, Fischman and Monnette drew one while Davis drew two. Fischman checked, Monnette bet and Davis called. Fischman also called.

On the next draw, Fischman drew one, Monnette stood pat and Davis drew two. Fischman checked after the draw, Monnette bet, Davis folded and was left with 15,000 chips and then Fischman called.

On the final draw, Fischman drew one and Monnette stood pat. Both players then checked. Monnette tabled the {8-}{7-}{6-}{4-}{3-} and Fischman mucked. Fischman was left with 13,000 chips and Monnette moved up to 63,000.

The Forrest Grows

Ted Forrest

From the cutoff seat, Davidson Matthew raised and then Ted Forrest reraised from the small blind. Matthew made the call and waited for Forrest to draw one card. Matthew drew one as well. Forrest bet, Matthew raised, Forrest reraised and Matthew called.

Forrest stood pat on the next draw and Matthew drew one. Forrest then bet and Matthew called. On the third draw, Forrest was pat again and Matthew drew one more card. Forrest bet and Matthew folded. Forrest didn't show. Winning that pot put Forrest up to 80,000 and in contention for the chip lead. Matthew was left with 19,000.

The Bear Gets There

Christopher McHugh opened with a raise from the button, and Barry Greenstein called out of the big blind to go heads up.

Both men drew two cards on the first round, and Greenstein check-called a bet. He did the same on the second round when both players drew one card, and Greenstein drew one more card on the final round. After receiving his exchange, Greenstein led out with a bet into the standing-pat McHugh who made the quick call.

Greenstein exposed {8-} {7-} {5-} {4-} {2-}, and his eighty-seven was good enough to earn him the pot and a much-needed chip boost up to about 18,000.

Lisandro Notches a Double

Farzad Bonyadi raised the hijack, and Jeffrey Lisandro was the only caller, coming along from the big blind.

He drew two cards and checked, and Bonyadi pulled one and continued out with a bet. Lisandro raised and was called, and he stood pat the rest of the way. On the second draw, Lisandro bet all in for his last 2,000, and Bonyadi drew one card and called. He drew one more card on the third round to try and catch Lisandro, but he could not.

Lisandro tabled {8-} {7-} {5-} {3-} {2-}, and his eighty-seven earns him a much-needed double up to about 12,500. Bonyadi has slipped back to 37,000.

Georges Looking for Gold

Dany Georges was all in for his last few chips. When all the drawing rounds were complete, Georges was able to pull a {9-}{8-}{6-}{3-}{2-} to beat Farzad Bonyadi's {9-}{8-}{7-}{3-}{2-} and double back to 6,400.

After pulling in the pot, Georges turned to his friend on the rail and said, "I'm back from the dead! Like a cat, baby, 25 lives!" His friend laughed and high fived him before Georges went on, "I promised you a roller-coaster ride, I didn't promise you paradise."

"Can you at least hold onto one chip and make the money?" asked his friend.

"I'm not playing for the money, I'm playing for the bracelet," finished Georges.

Singer Has the Blues

David Singer
David Singer

Sorel Mizzi was the initial raiser from the button, and David Singer three-bet from the small blind. Mizzi four-bet, and Singer called, and it was off to the drawing rounds.

Singer pulled two cards and check-called a bet from Mizzi who drew one. Mizzi stood pat the rest of the way and fired a bet on the second draw. Singer asked for one card and made the call, and he took one more card on the final round as the action went check-check.

Mizzi turned up {8-} {7-} {6-} {5-} {3-}, and that's the winner. He's up to 56,000 after that pot, while Singer drops to 37,000 just as the break approaches.
