Seiver Succumbs

Scott Seiver opened to 400, and Josh Cooper made the flat call. Rock Cloutier then three-bet to 1,700, and Seiver went ahead and moved all in for 2,975. Cooper made the call again, and Cloutier announced an all-in shove. The only problem was that the betting was closed because Seiver's all in was 25 chips too few to re-open the betting. He only had 1,275 on top of the three-bet, and he would have needed 1,300 for Cloutier to make a legal raise, so his only course of action was to call.

The flop came {9-Hearts} {5-Spades} {5-Clubs}, and Cloutier finally had his chance to move all in. Cooper quickly called, and we had the chance to see what everyone was working with.

Showdown:
Seiver: {4-Clubs} {4-Spades}
Cooper: {A-Hearts} {K-Spades}
Cloutier: {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}

The turn {3-Hearts} and river {2-Diamonds} filled out the board, and that was no help to the at-risk Seiver. Cloutier's overpair holds up, sending another player to the exit and moving his own stack up to about 9,800.

Weisner's Bust

A player under the gun raised to 500, and Melanie Weisner three-bet to 1,525 in position. Her opponent moved all in over the top, and Weisner called to commit the rest of her own chips to the pot, putting herself all in and at risk.

She turned over two queens, and she would soon see that she was in an awfully bad spot against her opponent's pocket kings. There was no help for Melanie on board, and she has been relegated to the rail here in the fourth level.

Annette Drops the Rest

Annette Oberstad
Annette Oberstad

We walked up to Table 4 to see Annette Obrestad all in for just over 1,000 chips on a flop of {6-Spades} {7-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}. Stephen Chidwick folded out of the way, but Matthew Colvin made the call to put her to the test, and the news was not good for the lady:

Obrestad: {Q-} {9-}
Colvin: {6-Clubs} {6-Hearts}

The turn and river were a brick apiece for the slim-drawing Obrestad, and she has been eliminated from Event #9.

Seiver Starts the Climb Back

Scott Seiver
Scott Seiver

Andy Black raised to 150 under the gun, and Darren Kennedy reraised the pot. Scott Seiver called all in for his last 875 chips, Black folded, and the cards were on their backs:

Seiver: {K-Spades} {9-Spades}
Kennedy: {Q-Clubs} {Q-Hearts}

The dealer wanted to keep Seiver around for a bit, running out a helpful board: {K-Diamonds} {A-Spades} {2-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}. That's a baby double up for Seiver; he's still got some work to do.

Two Girls, One Double Up

We don't have many details on this one as we passed by the table just as the dealer was scooping up the board. What we could see was {A-Clubs} {A-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {9-Spades} on board, and {A-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} tabled in front of Liv Boeree. Annette Obrestad was counting out chips, and they were pushed to Boeree, telling us that we just missed some exciting girl-on-girl action.

Boeree has doubled through Obrestad, giving them 7,000 and 1,200 chips respectively.

Three More Victims

JC Tran's back was just spotted walking through the exit doors, and a quick check on his table sees that he has indeed lost all of his chips and been eliminated.

Also making their exits within the last two minutes were the charming Thuy Doan and the exceedingly tall Chris Ferguson.

A Dangerous Man to Chip Up

Lex Veldhuis
Lex Veldhuis

We caught up with the action on the turn with the board showing {9-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} {J-Spades}. There was about 2,200 in the pot when we walked up, and Lex Veldhuis was seen betting 1,775. His lone announced a check-raise, but he didn't put nearly enough chips into the pot to do so successfully. The dealer made him put in more chips to make the minimum raise to 3,550. Veldhuis asked him how much he was playing before moving all in for 9,975 total. His opponent had nearly as many chips, and he made the call to put himself at risk.

Showdown
Veldhuis: {A-Spades} {J-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Hearts} {9-Hearts}

It was two pair for both men, but Veldhuis had taken a big lead with that jack on the turn. The river came the {10-Hearts}, changing nothing and sending that sizable pot (the biggest we've seen so far) over to Mr. Veldhuis. He's up to 21,000, and that should instill some fear in his table mates.
