Large Blow to Greenstein's Stack

We arrived just in time to see Barry Greenstein in a pot with another player with a board of {8-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {2-Spades} {6-Hearts} {3-Hearts}. Greenstein lead out, and was quickly raised. Greenstein called the raise only to find bad news waiting for him. His opponent held {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts}.

The pot was fairly substantial, so we can only assume there was a decent amount of betting before the river.

Thor No Blockbuster in this Tourney

Thor Hansen
Thor Hansen

Thor Hansen raised from the cutoff and the big blind made it three bets. Hansen called as the players saw a {8-Spades}{6-Spades}{7-Clubs} flop. The big blind led out and Hansen made the call. The big blind bet blind before the {10-Diamonds} came out and Hansen called leaving himself with only 200 behind. On the {3-Clubs} river, the big blind bet and Hansen put in his last remaining chips. The blind blind turned over {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} for a flopped set. Hansen showed {K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} and was eliminated but wished the other players good luck.

Slow Bleed for Laak

Phil Laak raised from the cutoff and received a call from the player in the big blind. When the flop came down {4-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}, the big blind checked, Laak bet, and the big blind check-raised. Laak called and then mucked when his opponent led out on the {9-Hearts} turn. The "Unabomber" left himself just 2,900.

To make matters worse, he lost another 1,000 on the next hand after raising preflop and then folding to a turn bet.

Brock Parker
Brock Parker

Brock Parker bet out on a flop of {9-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} and Scott Clements called in the big blind. When the {10-Spades} was flipped for the turn Parker again fired, only to find himself being raised by Clements. The {A-Diamonds} paired the board as Clements again bet into Parker.

Parker made the call and showed the winning hand of {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}.

Marco Traniello Gives Up, but Still Manages Not to Lose

Marco Traniello
Marco Traniello

We caught up to the action at Marco Traniello's table to find him involved in a pot with three other people. The Small blind started the action off by betting into a board of {6-Hearts} {9-Spades} {K-Hearts}. Traniello and two others made the call.

The Small Blind again bet out when the {7-Diamonds} came out for the turn. This time Traniello was the only one to make the call.

A river {A-Spades} scared the small blind from betting, but it did not scare Traniello, who for the first time during the hand made a wager. After some deliberation the small blind called. Traniello sullenly told his opponent "You have it" and very slowly flipped over {7-Hearts} {5-Hearts}. Traniello's opponent slowly flipped his whole cards to reveal {7-} {4-} for a chop pot.

Bono-Mo’ Chips

Justin Bonomo led out from the small blind on a {Q-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop and the player in the cutoff made the call. Bonomo bet again when the {7-Diamonds} hit the turn but this time the cutoff raised. Bonomo answered with a three-bet and the cutoff just called. Bonomo bet once more on the the {6-Clubs} river. The cutoff made the call and asked “Aces”? Bonomo turned over {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} and said “close enough" as his opponent mucked.
