The Brit Leads Out to Take it Down

Level 8 : 30,000/60,000, 0 ante

Timoshenko made a raise to 60,000 holding the button and Cody came along, bringing a flop of {2-Spades}{9-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}.

After a check by Cody, Timoshenko fired 70,000 into the pot and Cody flat called. The turn was the {8-Hearts} and the players exchanged checks.

The river fell {A-Spades} and Cody adjusted his line in the hand, betting 95,000 chips. Timoshenko seemed a bit surprised by this move and released his cards fairly quickly.

More of the Same

Level 8 : 30,000/60,000, 0 ante

Yevgeniy Timoshenko opened to 60,000, and once again, Jake Cody three-bet to 170,000. It's the second consecutive time that a Timoshenko button hand has gone this way, and for the second consecutive time, he folded with just a cursory look.

Timoshenko is still in front by about 400,000 chips. He's got about 1.8 million on the table, while Cody has about 1.4 million. Both men still have 3.2 million chips in the rack.

Jake Flops an Ace and Takes the Chip Lead

Level 8 : 30,000/60,000, 0 ante

Timoshenko made a min-raise to 60,000 and Cody called to bring a flop of {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{5-Hearts}. Both players checked and the {Q-Diamonds} arrived on the turn.

Cody led out this time for 70,000 chips and Timoshenko stared straight ahead as he thought things through. The Ukrainian elected to reraise to 220,000 and now it was Cody's turn to reflect.

The Brit made the call and after the {J-Hearts} fell on the river both players checked it down. Cody showed down the {A-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and Timoshenko mucked, sending a large pot in Cody's direction. This hand propelled Cody into a slight chip lead after he had fallen behind early.

On the button, Timoshenko raised to 80,000 and Cody continued his aggressive strategy by three-betting to 190,000. This play prompted Timoshenko to announce "all-in" and Cody instantly mucked his cards.

Timoshenko offered a smile to the Brit-heavy crowd, showing that he has not been rattled by the raucous atmosphere inside the final table arena.

Three-Bets A'Plenty

Level 8 : 30,000/60,000, 0 ante

Yevgeniy Timoshenko raised to 80,000 from the button, and Jake Cody had that three-betting look on his face. After a moment, he did just that, flicking 185,000 chips into the pot. It was a bit of a small three-bet, but it got the job done just as well. Timoshenko gave it just a quick look before mucking.

Timoshenko Calls Cody Down, Takes Biggest Pot of Match

Level 8 : 30,000/60,000, 0 ante

Timoshenko continued his strategy of raising on his button, this time making it 80,000 to go. Cody continued his own strategy of three-betting Timoshenko's button raises, popping it to 180,000. Timoshenko finally decided to look Cody up and made the call.

Flop: {9-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}

Cody splashed 195,000 chips into the middle and Timoshenko flat called, bringing a turn card of {8-Hearts}.

The 22-year old British sensation did not relent and fired 245,000 at his opponent, eliciting a round of song from the crowd. Timoshenko decided to come along and made the call.

River: {J-Diamonds}

The pot contained 1,240,000 at this point and Cody slowed down, tapping the table for a check. Timoshenko did the same and Cody showed down the {5-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for seven-high. Timoshenko's {9-Spades}{7-Spades} and two pair were good and he dragged the largest pot of the match his way.

The Brits remained undeterred, however, and continued to hoot and holler in support of their countryman.

Cody's Pair in the Hole Holds Up to Double Through Timoshenko

Level 8 : 30,000/60,000, 0 ante

Button raises are en vogue in this heads-up contest and Timoshenko again raised on the button. Cody shipped his entire stack into the middle and Timoshenko snap-called, flipping up {A-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and finding himself far behind the {6-Spades}{6-Clubs} of Cody.

Flop: {3-Spades}{K-Clubs}{9-Spades}

The Brit's pocket pair survived the flop and Timoshenko was down to a three-outer for a large chunk of his starting stack.
The turn card of {9-Clubs} was an unpleasant sight for Cody, as Timoshenko picked up three additional outs and could now spike a king or an ace to win the hand.

River: {8-Hearts}

Cody's hand held up and the Rio erupted in unintelligible chants led by the inebriated British-dominated audience as their man takes a small chip lead. Timoshenko responded to the loss by cashing in his first bullet and adding 1.6 million chips to his stack.
