Bear Busted

Barry Greenstein
Barry Greenstein

Kostritsyn: {Q-Spades}{5-Clubs} / {J-Spades}{7-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{2-Spades} / {3-Diamonds}
Greenstein: {2-Hearts}{8-Hearts} / {2-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{10-Spades}{9-Spades} / {J-Clubs}

Barry Greenstein was all in and at risk on third against Alexander Kostritsyn. Greenstein began the hand in the lead with a pair of 2s but Kostritsyn went ahead with queens on fifth. It came down to seventh where Kostritsyn still had one pair so Greenstein would need to pair one of his previous cards to stay in contention. It was not meant to be however as he peeled the {J-Clubs} and signed his book for Kostritsyn before leaving. Kostritsyn has retaken the chip lead once again

Hawrilenko Boats Up

Level 16 : 6,000/12,000, 1,500 ante
Matt Hawrilenko
Matt Hawrilenko

Hawrilenko: {x-}{x-} / {K-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{4-Spades}{8-Hearts} / {x-}
Tang: {x-}{x-} / {2-Clubs}{3-Spades}{5-Spades}{J-Clubs} / {x-}

Joining the action on sixth street and Matt Hawrilenko was betting into Kevin Tang but the latter showed no sign of going anywhere, calling 12,000 bets on sixth and seventh street. Hawrilenko flipped {K-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} for a full house and Tang flashed the {8-Spades} before flinging his cards in the muck.

Paluszek Eliminated

Jim Paluszek = Eliminated
Jim Paluszek = Eliminated

Sorel Mizzi has been a thorn in Jim Paluszek's side ever since the redraw and has just finished Paluszek off.

Paluszek was all in on third street with {A-Spades}{7-Clubs}/{7-Diamonds} against Mizzi's {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}/{J-Hearts}. Neither player improved their respective hand, giving Mizzi the pot and ending Paluszek's tournament.

A Whole New World

Schulman: {X-}{X-} / {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{8-Spades} / {X-}
Hennigan: {X-}{X-} / {6-Spades}{K-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{2-Spades} / {X-}

We caught up with the action on sixth where Nick Schulman check-called John Hennigan’s bet. Both players checked seventh and Hennigan turned up {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for trips while Schulman mucked. Hennigan built on his chip lead while Schulman's stack dropped quite a bit from what it was earlier.

Young Eliminated By Tryba's Kings

Young: {X-}{X-}/{2-Spades}{10-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}/{X-}
Kostritsyn: {X-}{X-}/{A-Spades}- completes, then folds
Greenstein: {X-}{X-}/{6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}/{X-}
Tryba: {X-}{X-}/{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{K-Hearts}/{X-}

Lets keep it simple. After a series of raises on third street, Jason Young was all in against Chris Tryba and Barry Greenstein. Taking the lead on board with a pair on fourth street, Greenstein bet on fourth and fifth, getting called by Tryba on both. They checked it down after that, with Tryba showing {K-Clubs}{X-}{X-} for a pair of kings. Greenstein couldn't beat it, nor could Jason Young with his wired {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}, giving the pot to Tryba.

Slowing Right Down

Level 15 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

We've now not lost a player for nearly 90 minutes now. The play has almost ground to a halt as the players' stacks have gotten fairly deep and at this moment no-one is particularly running away with the tournament as can often be the case.

The level went up around fifteen minutes though so it surely is only a matter of time the numbers start to drop again.

Still Mizzing It Up

Brown: {X-}{X-} / {K-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{6-Spades} / {X-}
Mizzi: {X-}{X-} / {9-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{4-Spades} / {X-}

We caught up with the action on fourth where Chad Brown bet and Sorel Mizzi called. Brown bet again on fifth only to get raised by Mizzi which he called. Brown went back to betting when he paired on sixth and Mizzi called with the action was the same on seventh. Brown showed {Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for two pair and Mizzi mucked.

The next hand however, Mizzi picked some chips back up when he won a hand off Ville Wahlbeck where Mizzi bet third, fourth and fifth when Wahlbeck finally folded.

Greenstein Doubles Through Tryba

Level 15 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Greenstein {X-}{X-}/{K-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{10-Spades}{7-Diamonds}/{X-}
Tryba: {X-}{X-}/{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}/{X-}

Barry Greenstein completed third street, but was raised by Chris Tryba. Greenstein called and then check-called bets on fourth and fifth street. On sixth street, he got the rest of his chips in and showed down cards of {J-Spades}{8-Hearts} for a straight, while Tryba showed {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} for aces up.

Tryba failed to fill up on the river, securing the double for Greenstein to about 100,000.
