Cohen Busts Two

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Charles Cohen has just hit the 300,000 mark after scoring a double knockout.

He held {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} against James Pritchard's {9-Hearts}{9-Spades} and another opponent's {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}. Cohen nailed the board as it came down {J-Spades}{A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{7-Spades} and is sitting much more comfortable now after nearly tripling up.

Joseph Bolnick Bowls Over Two Opponents

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

After raising to 16,000 before the flop, Joseph Bolnick watched as one player in middle position called and another went all-in from the small blind. The woman who was all-in had only 40,000 or so chips while Bolnick's other opponent had a bit less. This player called to put his tournament life at risk and Bolnick came along as well with a stack just larger than the other two, effectively making this a three-way all-in confrontation.

Showdown:

Bolnick: {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}
Small Blind: {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Middle Position: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}

Bolnick was in good shape with his pair of queens, but would need to dodge two overcards to earn the victory. The flop fell {10-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and the small blind paired her ten, giving her three additional outs.

Turn: {Q-Diamonds}

With that, Bolnick had made a set of queens and had both of his opponents drawing dead. The {7-Diamonds} on the river sealed the deal and gave Bolnick the triple-up. After making sure he had both opponents covered, the dealer pushed Bolnick the pot and he now sits with around 175,000.

Richard "Dick" Harwood Takes Chip Lead

With the flop showing {j-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and more than 40,000 already in the pot, Richard "Dick" Harwood open shoved all-in for his stack of 265,500. His opponent stared Harwood down for nearly two minutes before shrugging and saying simply "I'll gamble with ya sir."

Harwood's opponent tabled the {A-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for the nut flush draw and was shocked to see that his ace was also live. Harwood had risked his entire tournament with just {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} for third pair on the flop. Both players stood to watch the dealer decide their fates.

Turn: {7-Spades}
River: {2-Hearts}

The opponent missed his draws and his entire stack of 216,000 was slid across the table, making Dick Harwood our new chip leader at the moment.

Bruce Baker Finds Some More Dough

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

We watched one player shove all-in over Bruce Baker's raise and Baker make the insta-call with {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}. His opponent held {j-Clubs}{J-Hearts} and said "Dang it, that's a good hand sir" when he saw Baker's pair of queens.

The final board rolled out {A-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades} and the player with jacks hit the rail in 48th place. As he made his way out of the Amazon Room, a fellow player was overheard stating definitively that "there's about fifteen ways to play them jacks, and all of 'em are wrong."

Bruce Baker Withstands the Heat Despite A Major Sweat

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

After a short stacked player moved all-in for his last 18,000, Bruce Baker made the call with {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}. He was in great shape against the {A-Spades}{4-Spades} held by his opponent Baker called for no aces to hit the flop.

Flop: {K-Spades}{5-Hearts}{3-Spades}

Baker got his wish with an ace-free flop, but his opponent had picked up the nut flush draw and a gutshot draw to the wheel straight. With an additional 12 outs to dodge, Baker was now a statistical underdog and he had a serious sweat on his hands while he waited for the dealer to drop the next cards.

Turn: {J-Diamonds}
River: {8-Diamonds}

Despite becoming the favorite on the flop with fifteen outs and two chances to hit them, the all-in player bricked out and hit the rail in 47th place. Baker built his stack to around 515,000 with the win to put himself squarely in contention as Day 2 comes to its conclusion.

Craig Koch Fades the Deck to Have Aces Hold Up

Harvey Bundy raised to 33,000 from the hijack and a player holding the button reraised all-in for 170,000. Craig Koch snap-called and tabled his {A-Spades}{A-Hearts} with authority. Bundy quickly got out of the way and the all-in player showed down his {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} in disappointment.

When the flop came {3-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} his hopes were lifted slightly, as he could now win by hitting a heart to complete his flush. The {Q-Spades} on the turn provided even more outs and Koch found himself dodging kings, queens and hearts if his aces were to hold up.

River: {A-Clubs}

Despite the numerous outs available to the all-in player, the river hit Koch's hand and gave him the win. He now sits with a stack of 435,000, good for double the chip average.
