Field Size

Level 6 : 100/200, 25 ante

It’s been confirmed that there were 3,144 entrants for this event. Although that number is slightly down from the 3,289 in this event last year and the 3,175 in Event #20, also a $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em that took place this past week, it is still a pretty massive field.

Jimmy Fricke
Jimmy Fricke

We caught Jimmy Fricke heads up with another player on a flop of {5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. His opponent bet 650 and Fricke called. The turn brought the {8-Hearts} and both players checked. The {q-Diamonds} hit on the river. His opponent made it 1,250 to go and Fricke made the call.

His opponent immediately folded his cards into the muck and Fricke flipped up {9-Clubs}{10-Clubs} to take down the pot. He now sits with 9,500 in chips.

Issue at Table 48

Level 6 : 100/200, 25 ante

There was an issue at table #48 that invoked yelling between players and eventually the floor was called. It seems that one player shoved all in and the action was folded around to a player who said "Four?" asking how much it is. The dealer asked the player what he said and once again he said "Four?" asking if the all in was four-thousand more. He pushed out chips and flipped over {8-}{8-} and the all-in player blew up.

The player that was all in insisted that the caller said "Fold" and not "Four." When the floorman came over he attempted to ask the dealer the story but the all in player kept shouting over the top of him. The floorman had to warn the players to be quiet so he could get the story straight from the dealer. Afterwards, everyone at the table said that they also heard "Four" and the hand was played out with the all in called.

The player that was all in flipped up {4-}{4-} and was significantly behind. He did not improve with the board and stormed off toward the rail.

Roothlus Wants to See it Again

We caught up to the action to find Gavin Smith and Adam Levy playing a pot together. On a {7-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{8-Hearts} board Levy bet out 650. Smith made the call and both players got to see the {6-Spades} on the turn. Both players then checked and it was a river {5-Hearts} that brought zero action as both players checked again.

Smith flipped over {7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a straight and Levy showed {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} for a pair of jacks. As the dealer started to straighten out all the cards Levy yelled "wait! wait!!" thinking he somehow had the best hand and was getting scooped. The dealer along with the other players assured Levy that he indeed owned the losing hand. Players laughed and Levy playfully admitted his fault.

Gavin Smith raised to 975 from the button and found a caller from the player in the big blind. The flop ran out {k-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and both players checked.

The {5-Clubs} fell on the turn and the player in the big blind checked and Smith bet 1,350. His opponent folded his cards into the muck. Smith now sits with 9,800 in chips.

Smit Smitten with Chips

Action folded around to Sybe Smit on the button, he made it 450 to go. The small blind then called, and the big blind moved all in for 2,275 more. Smit made the call and the small blind folded. Smit sheepishly showed {Q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and his opponent even more sheepishly showed {2-Spades}{3-Spades}.

The dealer put out five cards and they came out {A-Clubs}{2-Spades}{5-}{7-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} and Smith won a decently sized pot.
