Baker Binks a Ten

Level 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Amanda Baker raised from early position to 2,400 and the short-stacked player in the big blind moved all in for his last 3,700. Baker called and the hands were revealed.

Big Blind: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
Baker: {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}

The big blind appeared to be in great shape to double up until the flop brought the {q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} giving Baker a pair of tens. The turn of the {6-Hearts} and river of the {2-Clubs} couldn't help the all-in player who was sent to the rail while Baker's stack now sits at 74,000.

Batista Busts

Chad Batista raised to 2,400 from the button and Yueqi Wang re-raised to 9,000 from the big blind. Batista called and the flop came {k-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}. Wang bet enough to put Batista all in and he opted to call, putting his tournament life at risk.

Batista: {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Wang: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}

Batista was going to need some help to stay alive but the {5-Clubs} on the turn and {j-Clubs} on the river weren't enough and he was eliminated.

Wang had around 120,000 after the hand.

Dang Wang

After recently having knocked out Chad Batista, Yueqi Wang used some of her newfound chips to raise to 3,500 in early position. The next player to act raised to 9,000 and it was folded back around to Wang who made the call. On the {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} flop, Wang led out for 16,000. Her opponent moved all in for 26,800 total and Wang made the call.

Wang: {8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}
Opponent: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}

Wang was behind her opponent’s aces but had outs with her pair and inside-straight draw. The {9-Diamonds} turn took away some two-pair outs and the {J-Clubs} river was of no help as Wang doubled her opponent up but she was still sitting with a very healthy stack.

Ace on the River Against Affleck

It was folded around to the small blind who raised to 3,600 and Matt Affleck called from the big. On the {K-Spades}{J-Clubs}{8-Spades} flop, the small blind led out for 4,200 and Affleck went all in. The raise actually put the small blind all in for 13,500 more and after quite some time in the tank, he finally made the call.

Affleck: {K-Clubs}{7-Clubs}
Small Blind: {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}

Affleck’s pair of kings were ahead for the moment but the {4-Spades} on the turn gave the small blind a flush draw to go along with his two-pair and trips outs. The small blind hit one of those outs with the {A-Clubs} on the river which gave him aces up and crippled Affleck down to 5,300 who was eliminated shortly after.

Kohl Kickin' It Straight Style

After a flop of {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}{10-Spades} both Christian Kohl and the under the gun player checked. The turn brought the {8-Clubs} and Kohl bet 4,800 which the other player called. The river was the {k-Spades} and Kohl put out a small bet of 2,500. The other player called but became agitated and angrily mucked his hand after Kohl revealed his {q-Diamonds}{9-Spades} for a king-high straight. We're guessing that wasn't the hand the other player was expecting to see based on his reaction.

Kohl's stack grew to 45,000 after the hand.

Another Winner for Wang

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Yueqi Wang continues to remain very active at her table. From middle position she raised to 2,800 and a player in late position went all in for a total of 9,300. Wang called and the hands were flipped.

Wang: {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

The flop of {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} gave both players a pair but kept the all-in player in the lead. The {5-Clubs} on the turn gave Wang a flush draw, and the river brought the {8-Spades} giving her trip eights and the win.

Wang had around 115,000 after the hand.
