Dinner Time

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

We're four levels into the day, and it's time for the one-hour dinner break. We'll be back just before 8:00 P.M.

Pham Doubles Up

David Pham

Matthew Berkey raised from early position making it 4,000 to anyone who wanted to see a flop. He received to takers Sudhakara Kattamuri, and David Pham. The dealer put out three cards and they came {A-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}. After Pham checked Berkey put out a 6,500 bet. Kattamuri folded and Pham called.

With a {8-Spades} on the turn Pham checked again and Berkey after some consideration put Pham all in. Pham instantly called and flipped over {J-}{10-} for a straight. Berkey sheepishly showed {A-}{J-}.

A meaningless {10-Spades} rang off for the river and Pham was able to double up off one of the biggest stacks in the room.

Only 50,000 More...

Stephen O'Dwyer made it 4,500 on the button and Romuaid Pycior re-raised all in from the small blind for 54,000 total.

O'Dwyer ended up making the call which was basically for all his stack as well and he showed {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades} to the {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} of Pycior and they were off to the races.

It wasn't much of a race though as there was an ace in the door on the {2-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} flop. The turn and river {j-Hearts}{5-Clubs} didn't help Pycior and he hit the rail. O'dywer broke the 100,000 mark after the hand with 110,000.

Players are being eliminated left and right now that the bubble has burst, so our numbers will be dropping quickly here as we approach the dinner break.

Tran Chases and Busts

J.C. Tran's flush draw ended his day.
J.C. Tran's flush draw ended his day.

We found this hand as J.C. Tran's chips were being slid over to Claudio Baptista. We've gathered the information from players at the table. Baptista open raised preflop and Tran called. The flop came {7-Clubs} {3-Clubs} {K-Clubs}, Tran bet and Baptista moved all in. Tran called and tabled {A-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} for a flush draw and Baptista held {K-Spades} {9-Spades}. The turn came {9-Hearts} and river was {10-Diamonds}. Tran's flush never got there and Baptista's two pair ended Tran's tournament.

Shelton Sent Packing

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Michael Shelton shoved all 25,600 of his chips in from under the gun, and Kyle Keranen made the call with his mountain of chips and {4-Diamonds} {4-Clubs}. Shelton was flipping for double or nothing with {K-Hearts} {J-Spades}.

The {A-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {2-Clubs} flop was a decent miss for Shelton, opening up another four outs to Broadway. The turn {2-Hearts} was a blank, though, and the river {Q-Spades} gave Keranen the pot with queens and fours. He's knocked Shelton out, moving his stack up to 260,000 in the process.

Ainsworth Tries to Use the Fours

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Jude Ainsworth - out
Jude Ainsworth - out

In late position, Jude Ainsworth open-shoved all in for 16,800 total, and Darryll Fish made the call directly next door. In the big blind, though, Richard Gryko squeezed all in over the top, pushing out his stack of more than 110,000. That had Fish (62,000) covered, and he eventually decided a fold was in order, letting the other two go at it heads-up.

Showdown
Ainsworth: {4-Diamonds} {4-Hearts}
Gryko: {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}

Ainsworth was in trouble, and the dealer provided him no salvation on the {K-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {J-Spades} board. He's out, and Gryko moves up to about 150,000 as he stacks that pot.
