Not Much Action Going On

Level 22

Things have been off to a slow start since players have returned from the dinner break. A preflop raise has usually been enough to take it down.

In one recent hand, Carter Gill raised to 24,000 from early position and was called James Vanneman, who happened to be to Gill's immediate left. The rest of the field got out of the way and it was heads up to the {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} flop. Both players opted to check and watched as the dealer burned and turned the {Q-Diamonds}.

Gill checked, Vanneman bet 109,000, and Gill quickly folded. Not too exciting, but then again none of the action has been as of late.

Cameron New Eliminated in 10th Place ($18,018)

Tyler Patterson raised to 26,000 and got called by Cameron New and then Jan Collado in the big blind.

The flop was {Q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and Collado checked, Patterson bet 50,000 and New raised pot (i.e all in). Collado folded and Patterson shrugged and called.

Patterson: {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{8-Spades} for top two pair.
New: {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{7-Hearts} for a pair and a gutshot.

The {3-Spades} turn and {4-Hearts} river helped neither player and Cameron New went out to a round of applause from the players as our final table was set.

Not-So-Shocking Double for Schock

PLH

Action folded to James Vanneman on the button and he put in a raise to 35,000. Mitch Schock was next to act in the small blind and he hesitated for a moment before three-betting to 80,000. The big blind got out of the way and action was back on Vanneman. He thought for about a minute before reraising pot, which covered his opponent. Schock snap-called with pocket rockets.

Schock: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}
Vanneman: {7-Spades}{6-Diamonds}

It was the wrong time for Vanneman to make a move, which became apparent after the flop came down {5-Spades}{5-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, leaving him drawing thin. The {2-Spades} put an end to the suspense as Schock was guaranteed the double. The inconsequential {9-Spades} was put out on the river as Schock counted out his stack to get paid.
