Table #412 houses not only our chip leader (Artem Metalidi) but also two World Series of Poker bracelet holders (Scott Montgomery and Foster Hays). Here are a few hands and the chip counts for that table.
Joseph Urgo raised to 13,000 in the hijack seat and Nathan Tuthill took one in position from the cutoff. The pair of them shared a flop of and Tuthill called a 16,000 Urgo c-bet. The turn card was the and this time Tuthill became the bettor after Urgo had checked. He made it 18,000 to play and Urgo made the call. The river card brought no more betting and Urgo won the pot tabling .
Then Scott Montgomery raised to 13,000 on the button and Joseph Urgo three-bet to 33,000 from the big blind. Montgomery made the rather nonchalant call and they both shared a flop of . Urgo fired out a c-bet worth 41,000 but Montgomery just smashed it back with a 100,000 raise resulting in an Urgo fold.
In a blind vs. blind confrontation, Bertrand Grospellier raised enough from the small to put Gregory Merson all in from the big. Merson peeked at his cards and committed his last 116,000.
Merson:
Grospellier:
The board kept Merson ahead and he doubled and then some to 250,000.
Grospellier, on the other hand, has slipped to 300,000.
We are sure that Tom McCormick won't mind us saying that he has been around for a long time. The Shamrock Kid (proving that Daniel Negreanu never need change his name) is a World Series of Poker (WSOP) stalwart and he has just recorded his 40th cash of his career.
We just caught up with him as he was enjoying a well earned snifter just short of the playing tables. He told us that he picked up on the button and moved all-in for his final 60,000. Artem Metalidi called in the small blind with and that was the end of that.
Table #416 is a very quiet place at the moment. The banter is non-existent and every face is a business face. Here are a few hands and a round up of the chip counts.
Scott Montgomery raised to 13,000 from first position and Craig Bergeron called in the big blind. The action checked down to the river on a board of and Montgomery won the pot with a 7,500 river bet.
Alexander Nudin raised to 13,000 from first position and Eugene Katchalov decided to get involved from the big blind. The action checked to the turn on a board of , Katchalov led with a bet of 18,000 and Nudin called. On the river we saw the and Katchalov check-called a 29,000 Nudin bet. Nudin turned over a very quietly played pair of aces and Katchalov mucked his hand.
Damien Lhommeau raised to 10,000 in the cutoff, Ryan Fair called on the button and Matt Berkey three-bet to 32,000 from the small blind to take it down.
Simon Charette raised to 10,500 in the cutoff, Toan Trinh three-bet to 28,000 from the big blind, Charette threw 63,000 back into the face of Trinh and he laid down his hand.
Action began on Scott Montgomery, who opened to 11,000 from under-the-gun. Gregory Merson called from the button and Freddy Deeb came along to on the small. The big blind folded and it was three-way heading to the flop, which brought . Deeb and Montgomery checked to Merson, who bet 14,500. Deeb called but Montgomery got out of the way.
The turn brought a and Deeb again checked, prompting a 22,500 bet from Merson. Deeb called.
The river? and Deeb checked a final time. Not backing down, Merson fired a hefty 61,000 bet into the middle. Deeb mulled it over a bit and slid in a call. Merson wasted no time tabling for king-high. Deeb flipped over for a rivered straight and scooped the pot.
"You're unlucky the six came," Deeb said with a smile.
Deeb is now up to 310,000 while Merson is sitting at 160,000.
